He's worth 150k a week wages and a new 6-year contract. Maybe we can entice him with a massive new contract and a buy-out clause, albeit one that only kicks in after the end of season 2018/19, giving us two more years to prove to him we can challenge the status quo in this country. If not, he'll have been extremely loyal to us with 5 years' service and would surely go with everyone's blessing if we are still mid-table in 2019.

To be fair to him, a lot of players would take the pay rise and then still try to force their way out on the cheap six months later (Payet, Suarez).
I think he understands that no one is going to buy him at the price Everton would ask for. If he signs a new deal then I would expect him to remain here long-term.
