I realise that the OS is often the last place to confirm news, but having heard about Chopra (sunderland) getting a 3 game ban from being sent off from pre season I checked the site.

According to the site Vaughan is not injured (but I suspect that he won't be able to play a full game as yet) as I don't think he's match fit), nor is he suspended for Saturday according to the OS. Does anyone else have any news? ~ we really need the numbers, even if all he does is warm the bench and come on later.

As far as I am aware, it has yet to be confirmed.
Needs to be confirmed by refs report. Often pre-season red cards are overlooked but, IT ISN'T ALWAYS THE CASE. Knowing our track record with Lady Luck it'll be a 3 match ban.

Toffeeweb have him down as suspended but I wouldn't take that as gospel.

Chopra's ban kicks in 26th... that game was on 20th July, our game was on the 31st. If I had to hazard a guess any ban wouldn't be effective until late August... by which time we'll have signed a few players, won't we!?

Except for the "We;ll have signed a few players", I think that your logic is compelling and would fit in with the Chopra ban. Whatever the outcome he won't start anyway, so i'd be looking for a cameo appearnace to run the 'burn defence ragged at the end of the game.

While we are a few players short, I hope that Baxter is not introduced too soon.

If it really is 'yet to be confirmed' then it's pathetic. Why can't the FA come out and say if he is or isn't, leaving it till 2 days before the start of the season isn't helping DM in his preperations.

Personally I think the club know the outcome and are keeping it under wraps, Vaughan super sub on sat IMO.

Unfortunately we cant afford to be choosy about our strikers right now. We have one fit one, and one half fit injury prone one.

So you want him to break down and not come back again? I'm sure Vaughan would love to play but his body isn't ready. I watched the interiew on EvertonTV and Rathbone said he has to be worked in slowly, 30 minutes here and 20 minutes there.

As of now he has only had 30 minutes of football, he's far from ready and I'd be very suprised if Moyes risked him if he wasn't suspended.

He will have to be risked, if he's not suspended, there is nobody else.
Lets face it, he'll be injured soon enough anyway.
Our bench is gonna be frightening, though not to Blackburn.

Osman will play behind Yakubu, Vaughan will be on the bench if he's allowed to play.

More good news (and an injury update) on Vaughan

Everton striker James Vaughan set to return for Blackburn Rovers game

EVERTON are hoping James Vaughan can recover from a foot injury to face Blackburn Rovers – and avoid being left with just 11 senior players.
Vaughan has escaped suspension for the opening game of the Premier League season at Goodison Park following his sending-off against Chicago Fire in last month’s friendly.
But the striker is fighting to be fit enough to add to David Moyes’s options up front – with Yakubu currently the only forward available to him.
The Everton manager is still working on landing targets Vagner Love and Alan Smith to boost his foward line, but he is still to announce his first signing of the summer.
It leaves him barely able to name a starting XI, which as it stands would include 17-year-old Jack Rodwell, who has less than 20 minutes of first team experience behind him.
Vaughan hasn’t played since he was red-carded in injury time of the game in Chicago for a reckless late challenge and he was missing from the side that drew with PSV Eindhoven last Saturday – but he has got over the worst of the injury problems that have dogged him for the past year.
On the second leg of Everton’s tour of the USA, he was given the all-clear by a specialist in Denver to resume playing senior football following his recovery from a knee operation.
He would be unlikely to be risked from the start against Blackburn but could find himself on the bench if only to make the numbers up.
Vaughan should then be available to face West Bromwich Albion in Everton’s first away game a week on Saturday because even if he was to receive a suspension, it wouldn’t come into effect for another two weeks.
The US Soccer Federation has not submitted a referee’s report from the Chicago Fire game to the FA, which mean they can’t take any action against the player.
But Vaughan’s latest injury setback is a further blow at a time when Moyes is in dire need of firepower after selling Andrew Johnson and losing Victor Anichebe to the Olympics.
