VAR

There needs to be some sort of time limit introduced for the review process. 30 seconds, or maybe 60 at the most. Needing five full minutes to either confirm or overturn a call on the field inherently means that there wasn't a clear and obvious error.

Also, sending the on-field official over to the monitor is a complete waste of everyone's time. I can't think of a single instance where a ref was summoned over and then defied the VAR officials to stick with his original call.
Michael Oliver last game of last season against Arsenal?

Jesus handball leading to goal and he was asked to review by VAR…still gave it.

Was Madley the ref at Anfield when we won 2-0? The ref was called to the monitor to look at TAA foul on DCL for penalty shout and he stuck with his original decision.

No that was Kavanagh. First time I ever saw a ref stick with his decision. Thought to myself “he seems like a decent ref”, been absolute dog poo with regards to us since mind

My ghast is well and truly flabbered.

Must be blatant if Dermot is going against his paymasters.

Let’s have the audio then, you corrupt cheating shower of shabite.

🤣
There’s an interesting bit on the ESPN website trying to explain it away as the ref gave the pen for Maguire, but there wasn’t a foul there (or at least sufficient for a pen) so it was overruled.
Utter nonsense mind, as like with Betos goal (and well stated by Neil Warnock on Sky) they forensically look as the goings on either side of the offence, so why not tell him to have a look a De Ligts involvement too then?

Reading up it appears that the foul was called for the Maguire action rather than De Ligt so they classed that as a clear and obvious error. They then decided that the De Ligt pull wasn't enough to give a penalty so it wasn't a clear and obvious error to not give a penalty for that. Confusing nonsense. Young exaggerated but he was pulled by De Ligt and it should have been a penalty.
This is where VAR totally loses its way, getting bogged down in the technicalities rather than just asking “is this a penalty”.

Maybe the ref gave the right decision for the wrong reason, but the solution to that isn’t changing it to the wrong decision.

It’s a penalty. The defender pulls his shirt to stop him from getting to a loose ball and scoring the winner. He’s pretty much taking the penalty and he’s got off on the technicalities.

Only one answer to that mate - corruption.

They didn’t even need to send him to the monitor for it, they could have told him in his ear, ok there was no foul from Maguire (I still think there was anyway btw) but de ligt has fouled young so it’s a pen, just not for the foul by Maguire. If he had any questions then they could have sent him to the screen and showed him all angles, exactly like they do for ruling out goals/ offsides for us.

Every goal against both United and Liverpool they didn they’re best to find a problem so they could disallow them, it’s totally bent.

Anyone not understanding that, I’ve got several bridges to sell them.

Good old VAR there for when the ref misses something….

If we want to play the clear and obvious nonsense, what the frig are some of these mistakes from the man in the middle.

Ask yourselves, if we Swap the teams about on each of those calls, so it’s United players on the receiving end of them, do they get reviewed differently……

Its so frustrating... We score a goal and it gets forensically analysed from every angle for any reason to rule the goal out. Every time we score, I'm expecting it to be chalked off for some some 'nothing' reason.

Then, when a ref gives a penalty, and there's a clear angle of the offence, its shown on repeat to the ref with the only angle that it dosent show the offence. You couldn't make it up. The incompetence is actually staggering, and if its not incompetence then its corruption.
