Yep. And I assume the ref didn't communicate that the original decision was offside and the only one who appeared to realise was the replay tech guy as the game restarted. That's on the ref. The ref should be suspended with the tech team, imo.
The simplest solution to the mess football has got itself into with VAR is to stop replaying events in slow motion. If you can't see it in real time, then it's clearly not a clear and obvious error.
I'd throw it all in the bin before that though and I still blame moron pundits like Danny Murphy for pushing the need for it in the first place.

Hate var. Never should have been introduced. Will totally change the game as we used to know it. .
My betting is it will be used more and more for different aspects of the game. Originally brought in for penos only was it? Now already off sides and cards. Goal line technology was a fantastic idea. Var was always going to be a disaster
Wait until the ad breaks are introduced when var are reviewing. That's coming next season supposedly. That means there will be a push to go to var more often. More var more money.

There are technical reasons why they should use slow motion or freeze frames to do with macroblocks and predictive/bipredictive frames

Funny how VAR is terrible now the RS have finally been done over by it. It’s been bent for so long but I don’t think this incident is corruption like the others, just shocking work from the VAR officials.
Nobody can tell me that VAR team were not watching the golf at the time of the “offside” goal - this is the one incident where I think they have genuinely made a mistake - the rest of the decisions against us, Brighton, Wham etc had more of a whiff of corruption about them.
You can tell from the audio that no one has got a clue what’s going on.
All the other released audios from other incidents like the Man Utd onana non-penalty tell us they have made rational decisions to disallow/allow goals, not give fouls or handballs etc, by reviewing and watching replays over and over again - corrupt.

We have been getting wronged by VAR for yonks and the most we ever got was an apology and complete silence from the media. Victims FC on the other hand have been getting looked after by VAR since its inception and they get one thing wrong and it is even on main stream news channels 4 days later. Cannot even turn the radio on any more because of it.

There is a fundamental problem with the system and i'm not talking about the offside issue. That was a mistake they will always happen but over time with revised procedures it shouldn't happen again or it will become less of an occurrence.
The bigger issue is that refs no longer make big calls because they think they the VAR will make it for them or they are scared of being overturned. They are scared to make important decisions anymore. Consequently they often get it wrong because of this paralysis, the VAR is used only to overturn clear and obvious mistakes, when in practice they wont to overturn a ref decision for fear of isolating the ref. Consequently there are huge calls being swept under the carpet and we the fans have to swallow it. Forest v Brentford is a perfect example.

Spot on m8. The Millwall FAC away match in 2019, was a classic case.
Said it since it was introduced: the idea that referees can't explain their decisions to the press was because the game was too fast, it was rife with incorrect calls they just couldn't catch everything of. VAR should have eliminated that excuse. If they can slow things down to a frame by frame thing they can explain why the calls they made were made that way. The "apology" crap is just nonsense. It's saying "yeah, our EXPERTS couldn't get anything right, even in extra slow motion with unbelievable amounts of time". Have them face SOME accountability ffs.
