VAR is good for the game - however it should only ever have been brought in to review penalty calls and potential red card challenges / off the ball incidents.
Offsides too. Makes it black and white.

But, again, it's not VAR that ruined the end of that match, it's the rule. That is a really dumb rule, only penalizes the attackers for some reason.

Are you talking about the City goal? VAR did ruin it abit as without it that doesn't get given as knowone even seen/appealed for handball on Laporte.

Sorry if you're talking about something different

End of the game tonight Martial was involved in a very close offside call. Why is the linesman throwing his flag in the air? Let the game flow and then VAR can rule it out if needs be. Too in favour of defenders at the moment.

Could be muscle memory to be fair! A lesser-discussed problem with VAR is surely going to be the teething problems as players and officials get used to it. I think it will get better as the season progresses.

Doesn't help that absolutely any decision is put under a microscope by the media and talked about ad infinitum.

Wolves manager moaning VAR ruined the moment of celebration. Can assure you if the goal was for the other team and was offsides he would be calling for VAR..

End of the day the right decision is more important than the players or fans happiness. I watch a lot of rugby and cricket and if nothing else gives two chances to celebrate.. but well accepted that the right decision by far is the most important not making the crowd happy. There is too much on the line to be getting decisions wrong.

Two weeks in a row he’s had a moan about VAR, last week it was one of their goals being correctly overturned.

Nothing is more important than fan's happiness. Without fans and their emotion football would be a game in the same vein of hopscotch or conkers.

There is only "something" on the line i.e. money because it's the fans who put it into the game.

Question: There was a play in the second half where Lingard almost got played through except for a Wolves player nicking the ball out of play. Naturally fatty John Moss missed it, being at least 60 yards behind the play, and gave a goal kick when it should have been a corner. Wolves went down and Neves scored after their next attack led to a corner. Clear and obvious error, would have taken about 3 seconds to fix... would you have wanted that checked by VAR?

Prob already discussed but they should use the NFL model. Each manager gets three chances to challenge the refs decision via VAR, if VAR goes with the refs decision they lose one sub.
VAR is not used unless there’s a challenge

how about just the benefit of the doubt is given to the attacking club like you know how it used to be. if your foot is a few centimeters in front and you are pulling out freaking laser beams to judge offsides, its probably not offsides.

Personally I think that goal like technology has been great, but I'm not sure about VAR. The problem is as other people have said, it ruins the fan experience, you don't know whether a goal's been given or not, in some cases. I mean with the exception of the Clattenburg derby and a few others, I can't really remember too many really bad decisions. Also would VAR actually change referees favouring the big teams. I doubt Southampton would of been given a penalty in the last minute against Liverpool for example. Also you had the lunacy last year, where Millwall scored a goal from a handball, but because they don't have VAR at certain grounds. I still don't think VAR will stop bad decisions, because of the institutional bias towards bigger clubs. When we finished 5th in 2007/2008 it was found out that if the right decisions have been made, we would of finished 4th. Some of decisions that season such as James Vaughan's disallowed goal at Blackburn were blatantly corrupt, same with the Lescott penalty.

That was never actually a rule. People have assumed that linesman do that but in reality if a linesman saw a player an inch offside he was entitled to put the flag up and he was correct to do so.

It's tough, when it is that close I agree. However in that crap MLS league with VAR they are letting clear offsides go because of VAR and it's resulting in needlessly deangerous 50/50 challenges between attacking players at full speed and keepers leaving their line. I've seen a couple injuries from it, fortunately nothing too serious at this point.

Leagues with video review are always going to err on the side of letting play continue. The NFL does that with debatable catches, fumbles, etc. It’s easier to nullify a play that already happened than to explain why you blew the whistle early and stopped a key moment with a bad call.
