Not every decison goes to a full review. If the VAR official is OK with it in play or with a quick replay then it doesn't go to review. It's only if they think that something has possibly been overlooked that it goes to the longer review.

There are loads of little checks throughout the match.

There was absolutely no talk of it then? Certainly not pages of paper and magazine coverage and copious hours of TV and radio debate regarding it's introduction. And there definitely wasn't a well publicised two year trial with published and widely spread findings.

How does favouring Barca and Madrid work during El Classico? And they must have missed a trick or two when Barca got beat last week and Real Madrid went into meltdown last season.

Sky Tv is a business and Lfc is a major cash cow for them. You only have to look at the crowd at the mid week friendly in Istanbul there was a max of 10000 from Liverpool area there the rest are from all over the world.
I said before it was introduced that it will favour the lovables and I stand by that; City lost 2 points today that they would have got last year.
There only has to be a handful of decisions like today and they will win the title.
Of course I could be completely paranoid and similar match effecting decisions will go against the spawn of Satan but I doubt it and we will all see at the end of the season.
