Andy van der Meyde is set to leave Everton at the end of the season, skysports.com understands.

The Dutchman's contract at Goodison Park expires in the summer and he has not been offered a new deal by Everton.

Van der Meyde has seen his stay at Everton dogged by injuries since his arrival on Merseyside in 2005 with the winger being restricted to only a handful of appearances.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan ace does not figure in David Moyes' first-team plans and he will be looking for a new club in the summer.

Van der Meyde's agent Chiel Dekker has confirmed the player is set to leave Goodison Park and that he would like to find himself a new club in England.

"I think Andy will be leaving Everton when his contract expires," Dekker told skysports.com.

"He has not been playing in the team and he is looking for a new challenge in his career.

"He is fit and ready to play and he would prefer to stay in England with a new club.

"We will wait and see what happens in the summer."

you watch...he'll sign for another premiership club, score 15 goals, play 38 games, and quit drinking....

good old Van der Shandy...aka Ale cart.

Good luck to him. I hope he manages to prove his doubters wrong. I can't see him getting a lengthy contract, though. Maybe a newly promoted team might take chance and give him a year?

I actually wish he'd gotten some more chances this year. I figure he can't have been worse than Osman on the right.. One cross at least was sublime. Still, I'm sure Moyes knows what he's doin..
I can see him being a pretty awesome free transfer for a newly promoted club.... perhaps :P

Yeah, always worried that we're missing something with him, and he's gonna go somewhere and metamorphose into the player we wish he'd been for us! :(

Posted via Mobile Device I still remember the game he had against the Hammer's a couple of season's ago, pure class that day, cross after cross, ran the wing with authority and confidence. I feel sorry for him that personal problems stopped him from making an impact at the club. I wish him well.

He can get stuffed, the biggest waste of space ever to attempt to play for Everton. Regardless of what people think ive never thought he was a good player.

Thanks Andy for taking about 10 mill quid out of the club.

If he is fit, I would have hoped we would have give him a run for the end of the season as clearly Osman is struggling.

I read something about him having an appearance related contract, so the more we play him, the more we pay him. It would explain why Moyes has avoided playing him as much as he possibly should have.

No link or source, just something I recall reading, might be bolloxs.
