Problem is we need the player that VDM "could be" - not the player he is and has continually proved to be.

Although i've got a bet on with a red mate of mine on who gets most minutes on the pitch VDM or Kewell - so by all means get shandy back out there! Just dont be surprised when he lets us down

lads , are we havin a very large "tin bath " here ??? hes a [Poor language removed] waster . granted , he once had ability , but alls hes done since arriving is take the piss . also , how will , eg , vidarrsson feel if he sees this no mark fast tracked above him ?? nah , sorry , the only thing we should give him is his p45 and a bus ticket to lpool airport . enough , as they say , is enough . (y)
 

Clearly his head has gone, but if we can get him fit for 1 match then its better than him sitting his contract out. He didnt do too badly when he's come on in the past.

I dont expect much from him, but even as a sub it would be useful.

I'm with you on this one - but we can't offload him by the looks of it. And if I can make a few quid out of it from a red then I'm happy

I agree totally, his inclusion above the kids is shameful, [Poor language removed] him off now he is a drunk who would struggle to make a pub team(y)

I agree, even if we lose the match its only the carling cup I'd rather have decent runs in Europe and the FA then the carling cup.

but if we win it'll be a bonus.
 

Well the Carling Cup should be the platform to test the youth. I personally think that all Premiership clubs should be forced to play at least 7 under 20's. That way we:

1) Save the senior players from being injured unnecessary
2) We bring throught the younger players and give them vital experience at the top level

Been saying this for years, but will anyone listen to me? Will they [Poor language removed].

Its a stupid idea thats why ghost! :D

It would just weaken the competition even more that way and you get hardly anyone going to games and eventually the compo would probably get cancelled due to lack of interest. Besides I dont think you have to enforce it as most prem teams field plenty of youngsters in this compo anyway. This and the FA cup are slowly getting weaker all the time.
 
When you consider that Arsenal beat a reasonable Newcastle team with their kids you have to accept that they can play the kids because they have some exceptional ones. If you look at our youth history over the past 10-20 years we simply havn't had much in the way of youth talent.

Obviously we all hope this will change but to suggest we have a team of buckeneering kids who are ready to take on the senior pros is dreamland.

I agree, I want us to win something- anything! I think we have a chance of a decent cup run this year as long as we change the team about a bit with the right players coming in at the right times.

Oh and 'whatever'. Doesnt do much for your rep does it??!
