Usmanov

City’s problem is also that the related party rules I referred to explicitly mention governments and states investing. So they consider different government arms to be the same entity and very much related.

Whereas our situation would be different as it is a private company. In an ideal world, Moshiri would reduce his USM holdings to say 9% and step off their board, leaving Usmanov a free run to invest at silly, ahem I mean market, rates and there’s no sniff of related party issues.

Annex X, Para F 3 (i) - part of the definition of what constitute related parties - also troubles me:

i) The entity [USM], or any member of a group of which it is a part, provides key management personnel services to the reporting entity [Everton].

As chairman of USM and majority holder of Everton, it would be hard to argue Moshiri does not provide key management services to Everton, albeit of course he doesn’t do so via a contract with USM nor is he a representative of theirs elected to our board.

Like I say, they’re not idiots so I’m sure they’ve covered this but I hope I’m not being gullible in my assumption....

No it wont, but so far he has sponsored our training ground, part of the stadium, given us 30m to get in a line and pretty soon the bog roll in The Park End, so if we can get money from elsewhere, USM has shown they will give us any many little bumps as they can get away with.
Cant see it for the main shirt sponsor , even double what Sportpesa paid puts us nowhere near where we want to be.
Out side of the Big Uzbekistanian and his mate its hard to see another company putting that much into it.
I think USM in their various companies can do the lot .
My guess ?....Megafon for 40 mil pa.

would imagine we should be looking to close the gap on tottenham so i reckon about 25-30 mil for next sponsor.
Think both those figures are way off personally, be shocked if we break 20m.

USM is still a related party. Its pretty black and white. Its disclosed in the statement of accounts as one as well.

20. Brighton - £1.5 million (American Express)

As you can see, we have plenty of wiggle room.

I still dont think it will be an Usmanov company, external money sources are cleaner and easier on his pocket.

I wonder how it would be categorised as 'fair value'...

If we finished above United and Arsenal then surely thats 'exposure' for the sponsor of a more successful team.

If its based on revenue then it wouldnt make logical sense as then no side below Spurs on £35mil would be able to compete and thus it would become a monopoly.

I wonder how much would be 'allowed'...lets say I had the money and wanted to have ZATARA emblazoned on the front of the shirt for £65mil then whats stopping me?

So a sponsor that’s not one of his companies so he can give us money for other things?

And West Ham getting more lol Christ!

I suspect that as shirt sponsorship is effectively paying for advertising space then the fair value element would consider potential audience for that advertising. it would be hard to argue that ManU and the Arse currently have a far larger global audience than we do?

I don't even pretend to know what Moshiri and Usmanov are going to do to get around all the financial restrictions, but I believe that they know what they are doing and will achieve their goal one way or another.
Just keep sponsoring stuff that nobody else has sponsored, there's no market value established on sponsoring piss pots, they can't argue that 34 million a season for having usm branded piss pots is above market value, if we are the first ones to do it then we've set the market value.

How would you even quantify it...

Instagram followers lol not everyone uses it...

Very hard to disprove...

Not sure an external company as you say would be putting the type of money in that we hope an Usmanov company can.
To be challenging the top in the sponsorship stakes it would need to be aka 40 mil pa.
Cant see us getting anywhere near that.
Define what you mean by External company
Example
USM How much will this AI job cost
NEC :2 billion is our costings
USM Here is 2.5 billion,we have a favour to ask, remember that English football club you used to sponsor back in the day,the one you have legitimate links with..............

They do but they’re both crap and soon we will overtake these ( off the field obvs not united )
