Was a very odd episode that Tubes to be fair.

It was indeed. Once he had got himself sorted, mainly on the backs of others, the amount of reported posts we had when he posted about being out late, going to a game, etc, the response was always the same from him. "I am not paying, so whats the problem?" basically.

The NFL is the only American sports league that blacks out its games on TV. At first they did it to protect the gate receipts but since the early 1970s (following federal legislation) it’s been tied to attendance. For a long time if the game sold out 72 hours in advance then it would air in the local market. Now you only have to sell something like 85% of the tickets. It’s rare for a game to be blacked out locally these days, maybe just a couple per year.

True. But originally it was a mess and caused a lot of anger. I think its inevitable that the 'big' clubs will eventually dictate their own TV fees. This is another reason why we need to be sitting at the top table, financially.

Yep, wasn't a fan. A lot of better people than me did a lot for him out of kindness and with not a lot of gratitude in return. Or so it appeared anyway.

Anyways, Usmanov, unlikely to need a free sofa and a spider culling on his super yacht.

Alisher Usmanov, potential Arsenal chairman, is a Vicious Thug, Criminal, Racketeer, Heroin Trafficker and Accused Rapist

Quite an interesting article on our new overlord. Some interesting comment by Arsenal fans underneath too, going back over 10 years, not wanting him involved. Having money and investment is brilliant but at what price? We pride ourselves on integrity and and being a family, community Club. Is everyone on board with this? Are we really so desperate for mega investment that people will overlook this mans past? There has been outrage (faux ?) whenever there’s been anything questionable, links or otherwise, with other Clubs or players being involved with shady characters and yet, we are all salivating over this man giving us investment. I was as desperate as the next man for him to come onboard, I didn’t know about the above story but having read it, I’m now not so sure. I take pride in this Clubs history, tradition and integrity. Are we gonna put all that at stake for a ‘ Vicious Thug, Criminal, Racketeer, Heroin Trafficker and Accused Rapist’?

I wonder if the various charities that take his donations(tax evading laundered money?) scrutinize his past so deeply?

In a world where only a tiny minority of the privileged few get to eat at the big table, the best the rest of us can do is feed off of the scraps they throw us. We may not have much control on where these scraps come from, but we do have the opportunity and moral duty to put them to good use. Perhaps in this way, through some cosmic karma, we do our bit to help restore balance.

In other words, money is money, dirty or clean. It's what you do with it that matters.

The vast majority of this has been completely debunked. Total garbage.

The relationship between Moshiri and Usmanov has become confused
So let’s put it straight
Usmanov is Moshiri’s Boss
Usmanov employs Moshiri as his chief accountant and buisness advisor
Usmanov gave Moshiri his place on various company boards that Usmanov controls
Usmanov gave Moshiri his shares in his companies
Usmanov gave Moshiri his Arsenal shares
Usmanov bought Moshiri’s shares back off him and told him to go and buy Everton before those Americans that were sniffing around at the time
Yes they are friends , the same way any 2 people who work closely together who have similar interests become friends and confidants
Everything Moshiri has he got throug Usmanov

Make no mistake though their is only one man calling the shots here and it ain’t Moshiri

Correction "there" not their.:)

But I believe their relationship is a good deal warmer that what you imply.

Anyone who has an issue with Usmanov would also surely have one with Moshiri, by extension, and the existing USM sponsorship?

Quite.

Being a football supporter is a quasi acceptance that you will be a hypocrite. Its just an inescapable truth, be it a chant, subscribing to Sky, accepting Sky money, or welcoming a barrow full of cash.

We shrug, justify it in our own mind, and look forward to Saturday. Lets face it, most are more bothered who will play Left Back.

The comparison to Arsenal is fair but largely irrelevant for the discussion now. He has deemed Arsenal an unworthy investment or at least that £550m is worth more than his stake. The big reason why was him having no control of the direction of the club was a central reason why. That is simply not an obstacle he would face at Everton and therefore the difference in size is irrelevant.

The top 6 as a united body is fracturing at the seams. Tottenham are struggling currently, Arsenal are also fraying and the long term trend for Chelsea is problematic. There is every opportunity for other sides to get in and amongst it. We represent the best opportunity for it.

The Premier league is far too big a cash cow for sides to go off and make a Euro league. The CL revenue has not grown at anything like the rate the PL has. Why would the PL teams sacrifice that advantage, plus a healthy pay off of the CL for a CL style league on it's own? Each year that goes by makes that less likely.

I suspect the stadium will come in at less than 500 million, the spurs stadium was heavily under budget in the end in London. I suspect we are looking at 350-400 million. There is every opportunity for that to be paid at a sustainable rate back, with the entirety of the interest payments being paid back by (some of) the increase in ticket sales. The opportunities then to sell commercial boxes, and generate associated sponsorship revenues give enormous benefits.

Everton as a brand is an extremely unique and untapped brand. We are arguably unrivalled in our history and tradition in the game. For example Liverpool, in spite of all their trophies have had fairly recent success (they didn't win the FA cup for the first 87 years of our existence). The quirky stories are essential in creating a brand, a history and ultimately being monetised. Everton have a history, being founder members of both the football and the Premier League that few other clubs can compete with. Usmanov being an investor will be aware of this, and aware of the opportunities if the brand can find a way to monetise itself.

We are currently very close to the top 6. It would require very little additional revenues to get there. We could well do it this season.

Perhaps most importantly, he gets a seat and an opportunity to make a bundle from an area of huge opportunity. Liverpool the city like Everton the club is also an untapped resource. With Brexit coming there are opportunities abounding.

Any serious investor would take Everton seriously. We have plans to build a world class stadium in arguably the best situated sports area in the country (on a world known World Heritage site). We play in the biggest sports Franchise in the world. We are a central member of that, and have been from the moment it was formed to the modern day and everything in between (there is not another club who could claim such centrality). We are available to buy for a relative pittance due to a prior share price agreement and could well break the top 6 before he even puts a penny in. Everything is in place to build a super club, in a super stadium in a A1 location in a rejuvenated UK city. All for less than what he received for his share of Arsenal.

Lets not try to paint this is as some sort of illogical manouvre.

This is so right and is what I have been putting forward in many posts.

Agree on the spelling mistake , I blame autocorrect lol
Maybe the relationship is much warmer and they are really close friends with a lot of mutual respect
They would certainly have achieved that through their ( correct use I think lol) buisness successes
However I have no doubt Usmanov is the captain of the ship.
Maybe as others have said Moshiri is a cleaner face to front the operation and maybe his relative wealth would make the council look favourably at a loan whereas Usmanov with 14b would cause the council PR problems.
I still think there are reasons behind the council loan other than cheap rates which Usmanov could have obtained elsewhere if he had gone guarantor

Quite.

That's it. We have time for morals and ethics while we are not part of it, but even though our club is apparently clean, honest and community focused, we might be just as good as spinning that story as actually being like that. I agree, we are good when it suits us, but otherwise, we need the money !

I can see a scenario where you sign up to buy one clubs games for the season
This then gives you the right to buy other games on a pay for view basis
I only watch Everton games and then just a few big games as they come up.
I’ve no interest in paying to watch Burnley vs Huddersfield on a Monday night

Yep, I watch say MOTD for Everton but after that usually just switch off. I have little or no interest in any other club.
