Usmanov

A lot of discussions centre around AU disposing of his Arsenal shares before coming on board. While that's what the legal route says should happen we live in the most corrupt of times*.

Anybody could easily hold control in more than one club using various methods. We ourselves have just had a period of ownership with the BVI situation clouding who was really in charge of EFC. Rumours of Green chasing Wyness across the Med and transferring the money for Gregg's shares are rife among others.

Basically if he wants it to happen it will, if he can't dispose of the AFC shares I doubt it'll stop proceedings.

*not suggesting AU is corrupt of course

What I think will happen is this, that once Moshiri puts the building of the new stadium to bed, is then allowed to take his shareholding to 75% or whatever, that is the time Usmanov will make his move.

He'll sell his Arse shares, buy into Blue Heaven Holdings and run this club with Moshiri, and do exactly what the pair tried to do at Arsenal.

It's not really about making money out of a football club for these two, they make plenty of that elsewhere, fthey just want a successful european football team based in the Premiership, that's the end game.

Yep all about Kudos.

I remember WE were called the Mersey millionaires and we could buy who we wanted.
Sound familiar ??
Times are different now, i believe.

Now it's no longer a local buisness man, like Sir John Moores, giving the club an intrest free loan.
For the good of the club, and the good of Liverpool.

That is what i would like to see.

But comparing "the Mersey millionares" days, with the curent world, is a bit naive.

Although i would love for that to happen again, on the behalf of Liverpool.

Kroenke doesn't need to buy Usmanov's shares as he's in control anyway.
And the other issue is that who'd buy his shares, they provide no influence or control of Arsenal. And people who'd pay that sort of money would want some power in return.
Investment companies would want them for a guaranteed stable return
Kronke would want them so he could force the rest of the shareholders to sell to and he would take the club private and incorporate it in America alongside the rest of his franchises

@Brisan123, i know my latest statement is a bit of a contradiction, since i glorify the good old days, before money could buy the title.

Just want to let you know, since im split in this matter, and what Sir Moores did, was another act, out of love for the club.

I believe

The worry isn’t him selling his shares.

The main barrier surely has to be does he want to give up that safe investment for a much riskier endeavour but with potentially greater returns?

I think it’s a pipe dream but if he was to buy shares now say, once planning is confirmed his shares would be valued higher, then once it’s built another increase in value.

I’ll try and dig out an old paper I found on this all I looked at for my dissertation.

It’s not all about the money

Written by an author who quotes the 'allegations' none proven ofc about rape, which have been shot down many times as they where levelled with the aid of a political rival at him, same author protested outside the Embassy where Assange is seeking refuge to offer his support to him due to the persecution and fabricated rape allegations against him...

Is Usmanov 'clean' far from it, only a fool would think so, is he guilty of every allegation and spurious charge ever levied against him, again only a fool would think so too

When you're talking the wealth of Usmanov, there is no such thing as a risky endeavour, like with the PSG, City and Chelsea owners, his wealth is enough to be able to spend until he got it where he wanted it to be.

Problem with most owners - even relatively wealthy ones, is that they have a finite amount they could sink in, when you can make 3bn extra in one year as Usmanov did last year, then that starts becoming trivial.

Asks a friend to hold the shares in his name - gives the friend the money to buy said shares, with documents signed to the effect that they pass onto Usmanovs adopted son in the event of him passing away.

Basically he writes off 300-500m quid as if he'd put it into an endowment fund for the son. When you're worth 20bn that can be proven (a hell of a lot more in reality) whats 500m quid...

Don't disagree. Either way though it's a murky world. I'm not getting all moral high ground by the way, as someone suggested earlier. Just saying: know what you're getting into. Things can backfire - especially, as you suggest, when the stakes here are so high for us (club and fans), but probably no more than a pimple on his backside.
