Usmanov

The worry isn’t him selling his shares.

The main barrier surely has to be does he want to give up that safe investment for a much riskier endeavour but with potentially greater returns?

I think it’s a pipe dream but if he was to buy shares now say, once planning is confirmed his shares would be valued higher, then once it’s built another increase in value.

I’ll try and dig out an old paper I found on this all I looked at for my dissertation.

not sure if someone else has already brought this up but who in their right mind is going to buy his Arsenal shares? You're paying top wack for no power!
That's not a relevant consideration for most investors though. The question applies to Usmanov because he's an immensely wealthy and powerful man, who could afford to have a major say in what happened at the club and is used to being in more powerful positions than he is there. For most though, a nice seat on the board and a healthy return on your money would be more than enough reason to invest.

It looks as though its all tied into having everything in place to start the new stadium.

I think we will see movement of some sort once the stadium is underway. This may well have nothing to do with Usmanov, but it makes sense on a lot of levels for changes to be made.

The stadium is a radical change within the business, in terms of potential of the club and nature of the club. Alongside that we know there is an unresolved issue of the remaining shares. It would make sense of this to be resolved at a certain point, when key objectives are met, and it's not a huge leap of faith to presume the stadium would be one of those.

We may never know why Moshiri only bought part of the club initially. It's worth noting that the stadium was far from a formality 2 years ago, many thought it would simply be impossible to have a stadium anywhere in the city centre, never mind on the docks. Maybe his fully investment was dependant upon that.

Alternatively Bill may have stipulated he'd only sell x number of shares at y price, if he knew a ground move and increase value of shares was coming. It could we be both of the above. Either way when movement likely comes it will be interesting to see what happens then.

What I think will happen is this, that once Moshiri puts the building of the new stadium to bed, is then allowed to take his shareholding to 75% or whatever, that is the time Usmanov will make his move.

He'll sell his Arse shares, buy into Blue Heaven Holdings and run this club with Moshiri, and do exactly what the pair tried to do at Arsenal.

It's not really about making money out of a football club for these two, they make plenty of that elsewhere, they just want a successful european football team based in the Premiership, that's the end game.

I think what people also need to take into consideration is just because Usmanov does not have a seat on the board, that may not apply to whoever did buy his shares. Kronke clearly doesn't like him so that's the real reason.

Besides Kronke has already made an offer to buy them and I imagine he would again given the opportunity. I really don't think selling the shares would prove to much of a problem, it's all about timing as far as I am concerned.

Usmanov and Moshiri basically tried for several years to oust Kronke from Arsenal, they are bitter rivals, one will never give an inch to the other.
