Usmanov

I took from the statement that Usmanov would never sell to Kroenke because of the way they differ on their views for the future of the club. Either way I agree that someone has prompted Kroenke to bid now.

It would be a massive comedown for him to have to sell to Kroenke. He could stick to that, and it would be a comedown and a half to sell to him. Billionaires will generally reconsider if a better proposition becomes available. If his shares are worth 600 million to anyone and Kroenke offers 650 million does would he consider changing his stance? At what point does his principle get in the way of money? Maybe never.

Its by no means certain Kroenke up's his bid, or that Usmanov compromises. But he's giving himself outs. In the same statement he is saying he wants to buy Arsenal. If he can't he can easily fall back and say I said' I'd never sell to Kroenke because I had hope he would sell to me, when it became apparent I changed tact.

You got to ask why is Kroneke bidding for his shares now?, Usmanov is a dead duck at Arsenal, has no say, Kroneke runs the show.

So what has flushed out Kroneke's bid here?

He has to own it outright to de-list the club. Like the Glasiers did at ManU.

Once de-listed, less transparency, so he can proper rape the club.

This is a really good question. Much will focus on Usmanov but Kroenke's motivations could be questioned. Either he wants Usmanov out as he's a threat, or maybe he senses Usmanov wants to sell to others and feels he would rather have his shares.

Todays' statement is a setback, but we are further forward than 2 days ago.

Reality hitting in here we’ve got to endure more years of Everton being ran like a cash cow until we get the stadium and rich people will be made richer while we suffer.

Maybe after that we can go somewhere but it’s not inpatient of us not to want success and the correct attitude.

Why would there be many if any takers for Usmanovs shares....they are minority shares whoever has them. They are 'useful' to Kronke and no one else. The only way control of Arsenal changes hands is if Kronke drops off the branch, or has a financial disaster. No one would wish the first on him,and the second is very unlikely.

Pretty sure Arsenal weren't exactly being shown much in the USSR in the 60's and 70's mate, unless Usmanov is a strange person who started supporting a team when he was about 37 years old

Does it matter at what age he started to support them?? He has started and might not want to shift to another team.

Given a chance, would you start following another team??

Why is anyone other than Kroneke going to pay for shares that are essentially meaningless given Kronkeke wont sell/loosen control?

You could see some Chinese lot, eager to curry favour with their President, being interested. But like you say, if someone wants to actually be an active shareholder, seems unlikely.

Or a Buy to Hold strategy. But north of 1/2 £Billion seems a bit steep for a passive position.
