Usmanov

I spoke to Esk recently (he is a top bloke by the way, lovely fella).
He does have connections with those towards the top of the club and also business interests that would give him some insight.

I think he would accept himself, as to an extent most of us did that he may have overestimated Moshiri and may have taken people at their word a bit too uncritically.

I have little doubt that officially and even in many cases privately Usmanov would have taken the line "I am staying at Arsenal". He could not say anything else other than that. Fifa and UEFA would have dictated that. That can't be confused with not having an interest though.

I'm surprised Esk is as intrasigent over ruling it out, id say I didn't think it could happen but it could. The situation is very fluid.

I am always surprised though people on the one hand say he doesn't know what he's talking about are often the same people quoting him as gospel (not you). He's a fella like the rest of us, in some aspects more clues up who gives his opinion on things. It's ok to take a different perspective.
I agree about Esk, and anyone who thinks he's some attention seeking ITK type is way off beam. He passed on info that he was lead to believe was correct, and he ended up with egg on his face, but he passed it on in good faith.

I think his view on Usmanov was as much of a personal belief as any inside info though, as the word within the club and from the inner circle of Moshiri would have been an unequivocal no, as it had to be.

I think he was maybe a bit naïve on this one tbh.

Even if Usmanov were to shop up at here, I won't make the mistake of getting excited like I did with Moshiri.

Farad has spoilt that

There were plenty of us warning people not to get carried away, but we were the kill joys. it was so embarrassing to see our fans all over the internet telling everyone we are the new big billionaires in town. Now it Moshiri's fault you get swept up in the hysteria and thought we would be knocking on City and Chelsea's doors.

Off the pitch there is still reason to be mildly optimistic, but football fans dont do mildly.
