Usmanov

Its deals like this that I think brought Moshiri into Everton. He has clearly realised that we have been run fairly poorly in the past and small changes can have a huge effect on us. There is scope for so much in Everton to be improved that he can increase the income 10 fold with some fairly simple changes. His impact on Everton will be higher than it would've been that at many other clubs, just by cutting out the incompetence.
Agreed it's been a long time coming but to simply be the best we can be without Constantly tying our own shoelaces together will be a new experience for the majority of us.

Sorry, borowing money was just an example I should have been clear.

You could have a company in Russia selling drugs, and a company in England making sprockets. The russian company could pay £72,000,000 pounds for 4 sprockets. Clean money yay.

There are laws against this and if they are not clear a Judges job is to decide.

Paying for goods, and sponsoring something are total different entities. As long as the paying company can provide a legitimate stream, showing where the cash comes from, there is no breach in AML rules.

It's not lending money though?! A company is paying another company for a sponsorship. Under UEFA governing law, there's no rules about how much sponsorships can be worth. If UEFA want to go down that line, they'll have to create a cap.

There's no precedent, and there's no guidelines in the governing body law. It'll take a Judge with big balls, or a Kopite, to make a judgement against it.

I was going to say that luckily there are no Norwegians in the European Court of Justice but with Brexit I was just wondering aloud if such a "case" would have jurisdiction in Europe - my guess is that it would as UEFA would bring it under their rules.

It's not going to happen anyway.

Horse is well dead and I am carrying on the flog.

As I say lending money is just an example as was money laundering.

If we are reciving 72 million pounds a day (totally made up figure) for the Sponsorship of USM FF and the closest compariable market deal is 15 quid every decade, UEFA will bring a case and the Judge will rule in their favor.

I guess the salient point is people may have the misconception that somehow now Usmanov can channel billions into the club unchecked. That is not the case.

You're correct in what you're saying, but Usmanov isn't going to channel that much into the club via sponsorship of Finch Farm. They'll go down other avenues, like what I suggested earlier. They're savvy and will make sure that all routes are protected.

But it's not that far over the market rate for sponsorship in football. It's only slightly unusual in terms of what is being sponsored, but given it's a state of the art training centre it's not exactly like sponsoring nothing is it?

You're right in that you can't just pay £10m for a pencil sharpener and call it a legal transaction, but we're well away from that territory. All this is is smart business, and a strong indication in my view that Usmanov is looking long-term at Everton rather than Arsenal.

I hope you're right about Usmanov.
One thing that makes me think you could be right is Koeman.
Remember he was supposedly Arsenal's next manager, but Moshiri seemed hell bent on getting him. It was almost like there was no one else being considered.

Exactly. Most other clubs have already done the value adder stuff and it would be difficult to get more out. We On the other hand are ripe for development in all areas, Ground, commercial and team........

Interesting, so if we have paid above "market rate" which I suspect we have, then UEFA may sanction us.
Bollocks. We haven't been paid more than the going rate. Not even close. In 2013 Aon signed a massive deal with Utd for naming rights to their training ground. Now yes, this is Utd but this was also 3 years ago.

The club(UTD) today enhanced their chances of reclaiming their position as the highest-earning side in the world with an eight-year deal worth almost $30m (£19.6m) a year, through which Aon will sponsor the Carrington training ground.

They've renegotiated for more money this year as well I think. Our deal is nothing close to that one. We should definitely not be falling at the "fair market value" hurdle. It is the other financial laws regarding partnerships I am concerned with.
