Usmanov

Hopefully Everton have already received approval on this sponsorship.

I don't think anybody...under the present rules...can say jack. He's just advertising his company. For the purposes of the regulations as they stand, Finch Farm is just a fancy bill board. The fact that we are maybe over charging him good style, is his own fault...Caveat Emptor etc.

As if!

It's a fiddle, a dodge, a wheeze, a cunning plan... Pure and simple Accountancy Dark Arts 101. For once, we're on the 'good' side of the fiddle

I bear no ill to Usmanov, but how Everton would it be for him to suffer an untimely death just as we were about to receive funds beyond our wildest dreams?

I'd say Usmamov is keeping his options open. If he wants to stay with Arsenal, he can, but if he fancies a change, there's a comfy chair waiting for him.

In the meantime he's helping out a mate in a manner which, if he ever chooses to make the move, will have helped grow us and potentially make us more successful than we would otherwise be, so you could argue he's looking after something which me might invest in at a later date.

The length of the Finch Farm deal may be significant and almost certainly means there is no plan for him to come to us in the next five years ( because he'd then be sponsoring his own club ).

Five years may also be significant when you think about how long it might take to get a ground built and opened at Bramley Moore.

Equally it could just be a mate doing a favour.

All very true mate, but as a fan it makes stuff a hell of a lot mroe interesting like.

At the very least it shows that Usmanov has at least a little toe dipped into the Everton pool.

Length of and any future deals will give us more of an inlikng about any possible future move i believe, as will the stadiums progress/timescale when announced.

As for the FF deal - would be utterly shocked if it doesn't have a way of terminating it early in case we need to avoid falling foul of any laws. that would be the logical thing to have written into it

Am I right in thinking, naming rights, sponsorship deals, yadder yadder yadder increases revenue, which in turn, increases spending power!!??
I just see it as a way round FFP in the future. May be entirely wrong on that though.

Just can't think of other clubs who have sold naming rights to their training grounds.

MAN United AON sponsors theirs I believe
Here
"Trafford Training Centre (currently known as the Aon Training Complex for sponsorship reasons and usually referred to as Carrington) is the training ground and academy headquarters of English football club Manchester United F.C.

Am i correct in thinking EFC doesnt own finch farm? If so im pretty sure even if he bought into us he could sponser it as it's council owned like Ethihad sponsers citys ground.

As for FFP, I'm sure it can only conflict if it involves the running of the club, in which sponsoring rights etc, don't effect that.

It finally looks like we could be competing with the so called big boys, at last!!

No that is a fraudulent act, they are too smart for that

How is it fraud and who could prove that?

They are still sponsoring us, we get the money from USM. What way Moshiri squares it with Usmanov is up to the them as long as it isn't blatant.

A holding company sponsoring a training ground for big money doesn't exactly seem 100% legit from the start.

set against tax liabilities "simples" as the Russian meerkat would say.

There's lots of things USM could spend that money on which they could set off against tax, and which would be far more likely to generate some sort of return on investment. Adding a holding company's name to a training ground will generate no return at all. Naming rights are designed to help build a brand. USM owns brands but it is not a brand in it's own right.

These two facts - it being the naming of our training ground and it being a holding company - mean there is no commercial benefit to USM in this deal. It is most certainly a way of Usmanov via Moshiri finding a way around the FFP and no joint ownership rules.

Anyone therefore doubting that Usmanov is the force behind this is misguided. Anyone underwhelmed by it needs to check just how rich he is. (Nearly twice as rich as Abramovich).

My guess is that Moshiri is the torch bearer, put in to get the stadium sorted, which once settled will pave the way for Usmanov.

The only other (less likely in my view) possible explanation is that this is Usmanov's latest play in his game of cat and mouse with Kroenke.

I don't think long term the authorities will allow this testing of the joint ownership rules to continue, so I don't subscribe to The Esk's view that this is simply some sort of attempt at increased exposure to the Premier League "market".

Interesting times indeed.
