So isn't this like the US teams biggest match ever ? is it getting a lot of hype in the mainstream media over there ?
it's getting decent hype, it's a massive game but I don't see how it's the biggest ever, WC QF vs Germany in 2002, 2009 Confed Cup vs Spain (semi win in a international tournament), Brazil (International Final). Biggest game in 7 years though and prehaps it being Messi and a home game adds to it

Ever, no. I think the '02 World Cup run where we beat Mexico (DOS A CERO!) and outplayed but lost to Germany in the QF would be our biggest run. Germany the biggest match... my friend who now lives in Munich was visiting at the time. Didn't pay for a drink after the match. A queue of Germans formed, basically all stating "You outplayed us and deserved to win" before handing him a beer.

The sport has boomed here since then, it's on US soil, everyone was calling this team dead after Colombia... so the confluence of the three have made it a BFD.

Oh yeah, the best player of the current era should be on the pitch as well.

I've been on the field 2 times in the past year. Hope nobody gets injured. Very poorly done with a tray system. I know for American football they just moved from grass trays to artificial turf this past season. Not sure what there using for the tournament.

Funes Mori was called a yankee by his former teammates in the junior squad in Argentina
He will play against the US in Texas where he grew up

Up there with Brazil WC quarters in 94 and Brazil confederations cup final...but this is copa America...a win would easily be the biggest win in modern history.

And the Germany wc quarter as mentioned. I've tried to forget that result as it was totally unfair.

The old holder of that title will be in the commentary booth, but the current one should be on the field yes.
