Unai Emery

Monchi would be ideal.

Emery would need to change his style of play as its so boring, we would see Lennon over Deulofeu every week.

I could understand wanting mourinho as hes proven in the prem, simeone as hes developed young players and broken the Real/Barca monopoly....

Emery has not done well in the league really and won 3 uefs cups after being knocked out of champs league and not winning an away league game all season.

Hardly world class.

So you dont want him cos hes not Mourinho or Simeone?

Special.

Well I for one will be delirious with joy if we get Unai + Monchi in on account of the fact that they are both clearly excellent at their jobs (well, it's clear unless you decide to nitpick for small sections in successful careers), helps that I'll have a nice £60 coming in from my tenner bet too :drunk:

Theyre examples of amazing managers/head coaches.

Emery hasnt come close to their achievements.

Hasnt exceeded expectations in the league
Hasnr developed many young players
Boring style of play at sevilla
Could be reliant on Monchi (we dont know)
Style may not work in england (russia)
Who on earth cant win a single away match????

5th isnt to be sniffed at
Hasnr developed many young players
Monchi didnt give him any young players
Boring style of play at sevilla
Boring? Are you insane?

Nope

A high energy high pressing game wont work in England?

LOL

Who on earth cant win a single away match????
Still finished 7th

:coffee::coffee:

1-- 5th is the same as Man City / Man Utd this season. Massive difference, like in martinez 1st season. This season they finished 7th.

2-- Monchi did work with the youth coaches and Emery got top players like Alba and before him i think Ramos under a different head coach. He stipulates the type of player he wants and then monchi shows him the shortlist the scouts have compiled and hes not really gone for young lads...having said all that, Sergio Rico playing at a young age for a keeper is really impressive.

3-- I like to watch exciting wingers like we had under Royle and Man Utd used to have....not "defensive" workaholic wingerd....he would play lennon over deulofeu and look at the forwards he plays....they run around alot and press but score a goal once every 4 or 5 chances.

4-- How do you know he isnt reliant on a DOF?

5-- Spurs and Leicester play high energy pressing and have flair players to get the assists....can you think of 2 or more sevilla players who create? For me just that lunatic banega who he bought from his old club valencia...

So Emery is a defensive manager so hopefully our defence will be sorted.
He a fan of rotation.
His perfered formation is 4231

So
????
Coleman ???? Mori baines
McCarthy?????
Del. Barkley Mirralas
?????

Recken barkley will have to buck up his energy levels under emery. What I find exciting about Emery is Teamwork

Si I recken another defender, DM and a striker plus an attacking player is what Emery need oh and a gk.

Look, I'm not completely sold on Emery either.

But, he's obviously a very good manager.

- They've finished 5th, 5th and 7th in his time at Sevilla, but each season they have had to sell their best players and replace them with cheap signings (good work by Emery and Monchi). Hardly poor and bordering on over-achieving.
- Agree on teh young players, but that's not the be all and end all. I do still have doubts whether he'd be the best man to get the most out of our 'youngish' squad though.
- He has changed his style up. It's not boring, but can be a bit 'safe' at times - more so in La Liga than European competition.
- Well yeh, we wouldn't know.
- Yep a bit of a gamble.
- This season that is. As I've said, his style was too 'safe' away from home this season and it back-fired on him. He's never had a season like that in his career though, and they won away in the cups and it's safe to say that their home form was very good considering they still managed to finish 7th.
