Emery has not done well in the league really and won 3 uefs cups after being knocked out of champs league and not winning an away league game all season.

I understand that you might have some reservations but really there needs to be a sense of perspective on this! I've countered virtually all of these points on previous reply to you, yet you've steamed on in there and slaughtered the guy. Is it not possible for you to have a sense of balance in your post?

I think your criticisms do exist but they are a little harsh.

I would say he has performed to about expectations and probably slightly exceeded in the league given the turnaround of players. The football is boring but I think would be quite effective in the premier league. I know it's a cliché but he hasn't really had the money to go and buy exciting players.

The reliance on Monchi is important but he performed a similar job at Valencia under financial difficulties. I'm not worried about away form too much, they won away well enough in Europe, sometimes stats are a quirk.

He isn't as good a fit as De Boer but he is probably a better manager than him. I do think with the right DOF above him he will do very well for us. He also knows how to win trophies which is a big plus.
 
Lets not forget this season this guy has beat barca, real madrid, villa real and athletic. 4 out of the top 5 clubs in the leauge. he hasn't had the best season in the leauge granted but he has been favouring the cups over the leauge. Choosing to rest players for the cups. Look where thats got him 7th 12 points behind fourth, The final of the spanish cup, won the europa leauge and got his team champions leauge football. if he did that at everton id be bouncing off the walls. As would everyone else in this fourm.

Exactly. Compare that to our tit of an ex manager who was openly favouring the cups yet didn't even get us to one final! Even Liverpool, arguably with a worse squad than ours, got to two finals and finished comfortably above us in the league!

Emery has done a, dare I say it, phenomenal job at Sevilla and is my choice for manager by a country mile.

This mentality of either a run in the cup or run in the league - one or the other, either/or, attitude is exactly why we shouldn't deserve success. Whats wrong with going out to win every game regardless of competition ?

If a manager said to the fans, I don't care about the league to win the fa/league cup then we shouldn't of sacked Martinez because he was doing just that - see Wigan as prime example.

Go out to win every game until the league becomes neither here or there, then we can shift focus to a cup, sort of like this season but less tedious.
Having a winner like Emery or Pellegrini might help change the fans perception on the either/or mentality.
