From memory spurs had a dressing room bust up relatively early on with Pocchetino which caused a split between some longer term/older players and the rest - think it was Adebayor who the bust up was with possibly over him playing Kane ahead of him or something - and those that sided with him all got shipped off, certain ruthlesness works and cuts out any lingering problems

@Yid4life almost certainly can shed more light on that and probably correct my innacuracies

Yep. Adebayor, Kaboul, Capoue and to a lesser extent Lennon basically were pissing about after we had lost a game and being unprofessional. Kane and others called them on it and they tried to pull the old 'seniority' trick.

Poch sided with the younger players and got rid.

Think Lennon did try and back track but it was too little too late.

Cheers for the clarification mate, could remember it was post game and definitely involved Adebayor and Kane going at it but was fuzzy on the rest, blessing in disguise for you lot really thinking back as it made it easy in a way for him to ring changes he obviously wanted to do.

what ya reckon on Emery btw?

Money talks, end of. If you offer someone a three year contract at 10 million Euros per year, then you are effectively offering them the opportunity to win the Euromillions. I'd move to Rochdale for 30 million Euros, in fact I'd even consider moving to Baghdad if someone was offering me 30 million Euros to do so.
Damascus?

Err.....embarrassingly I have never heard of him. Sorry.

G'wed, nut him.

I'd love it but Jose seemed more likely to me. Imagine us winning europa with a manager 3 years running then the manager decides to join a mid table Spanish club. It wouldn't make any sense.

When Howard kendall won the League with us and left us for Athletic Bilbao I never understood it and I still half hate him for it now.

He wanted the chance to test himself against the best in Europe and thanks to the mutants behaviour at Heysel, he and Everton were denied that chance. So he chose, rightly or wrongly to leave.
He had ambition and had done a brilliant job with the Blues and earned the right to choose his own destiny imo.

now no mourinho, honestly think he is the best candidate available...only worry is lack of prem experience, but you have to take punt on that i think

Unai Emery, age 44.

Emery prefers a 4-2-3-1 formation and sometimes a 4-3-3, he plays a pressing game based on controlling the midfield and getting the ball to the wing backs whenever possible. The main thrust of his attacking play is the wing backs are encouraged to bomb on whenever possible and get into the box to shoot rather than hit the white line and cross.

As a defensive unit he expects every single player to retain its position on the field and press high up the pitch to get the ball back, his players are finely drilled and he wont accept lazy arse bishes jogging around dreaming of PSG, im looking at you Lukaku you utter trampoline shinned trumpet.

As for signings, Benega is without doubt his "favourite" player who followed him from Valencia, but is supposed to have already sealed a move to Inter, which seems pretty flawed with Inter insisting hes out of contract and Sevilla maintaining that he "did a Kone" and played in enough games to qualify for a 12month extension.

Other players we could maybe look at would be the young keeper Sergio Rico, who ive heard good things about, but certainly wouldnt be cheap, as long as he doesnt bring that lanky streak of utter tosh Llorente with him or that Stoke reject N'Zonzi everything will be ok.

From what I can see his midfield for the last few games has been quite strange in my eyes.

He played 2 DMs with Coke, who is a RB playing as a right sided CM and Vitolo, who is a Right Winger playing Left wing, which suggest he is a tactical genius who should be admired. He normally favours 2 DMs with the wingbacks supplying the width, assisted by 2 wingers with the playmaking duties handled by the number 10 who sits in the hole and pulls the strings, the main difference between him and El Fraudo is the pressing all over the pitch and the attacking at pace. He also doesnt give a crap about winning the passing and encourages his players to have a pop whenever they want.

Based on his preferred formation we would set up something like this :

Rico
Coleman - Jags - Mori - Baines
Besic - McCarthy
Mirallas -- Barkley -- James Rodriguez
Milik

I was reading the formation seriously until I see that name. He will consume the entire warchest and more. Assuming Deulofeu is not on the way out, I would like him or Lennon there. Agree on Rico, he looks great against Barca. Perhaps try to buy Christian Pulisic for that left role?

Theres not a great deal of quality of the left wing around and available, I did ponder our old friend Perisic from Inter, but hey, we are rich here, why not just go for the best?

Rico would cost around 20m, Milik around 20m also and J Rod somewhere in the region of 80-85m, which based on our transfer kitty of 50m-100m and added to the sale of Stones and Lukaku leaves us with around 80m to spend on a back up CB, back up CM and a back up ST.
