Unai Emery Sacked

A year ago:

“I am never going to be manager of Barcelona or Arsenal because I am so identified with Tottenham and Espanyol. I grew up in Newell’s Old Boys and will never manage Rosario Central [in Argentina]."

Sounds like a pretty conclusive no to me.

Why oh why oh why does this club keep doing this. The same stuttering mistakes and a level of contentment over and over.

Don't bat an eyelid when paying compensation to get managers in, and don't bat an eyelid handing over pay offs when sacking someone; but simply refuse to pay the going rate to get a top guy in charge that would lay the foundation.

We will always be bang average when we have a bang average mentality at board level, and only look to bang average when appointing a manager.

Its sickening.

Top managers join clubs that win trophies and play in the CL.

We need to do that before we get 1.

Not necessarily mate.

The right time, the right wage and we'd get our man.

Ranieri / Leicester ( top manager at the time )
Mancini / Man City ( top manager at the time )

Neither of those teams had won nothing for years and getting those guys in set the foundation, certainly for City anyway. We hold back on paying top wages for the right guy, but don't seem to mind paying top dollar in compensation or pay off for the wrong guy.

Interesting article in the Guardian. Reckons that, after seeing what happened at Utd after Ferguson, many Arsenal fans suspected Emery would be their Moyes. Says part of the frustration is due to him being given ' a cast of top drawer actors but failing to make a decent movie'. From the little I know of football I'd suggest that you can't make a decent movie without a good script. I think we can all relate to that failing on this forum.
