2025/26 Tyrique George

Thought he was ok and positive. Surprised at some opinions doing rounds today today that he was awful.

Said during the game, if we want forward players who try to make things happen rather than rolling it back to the full back, they will lose the ball, get tackled, put crosses in that no-one reacts to making them look crap. Better to applaud the bravery with the ball and encourage them to have another go.

Highlights the issue with Dibling. He so far hasn’t really tried to do much of anything, and an atmosphere that makes him terrified of losing the ball won’t help.

We really needed to be 3 nil up a few times to give him 20minutes cameos early in the season. Feels like his carefree cameo period came and went and he is now firmly in the bin. George has played in big games already so hopefully has got past that fear.

We’ve given Barry 6 months to “settle” and Beto still looks like he needs to settle some more. So two thirds of a match for George feels a little harsh to write him off.

God forbid if you've written Beto off, even after his numerous opportunities to remind you why he should be moved to CB, in another league...but "he works hard, lad"...yeah, and so does my dog when chasing a rabbit but she's an absolute slob when it comes to table manners.

consistently received the ball with his back to the defender. Who then hounded him, so passed it back. Never had the chance to get into that game if that is the way we play. Need to play 433. So he plays directly off Barry and can link up easily Ndiaye

Same happened to Dibling in one game where he only had a couple of opportunities to drive forward and did well with them finding KDH & another.

He was slated for passing the ball sideways and back when he was also exactly as you describe above.

George & Dibling need to be given chances to play forwards. A run of games each with attacking play.

Absolutely agree he needs confidence and time to settle and all that, but is it just me or was he entirely on tilt for the second half? Very much trying too hard, attempting over-complicated stuff, seemed very frustrated with his opposition defender (which played quite well tbh), and simply seemed to lose his temper a little bit.

One might read it as a sign of eagerness and want to impress, but it certainly didn't help much. Let's get some of that dour, negative playstyle coached into him 🧐
