2025/26 Tyrique George

I definitely didn't enjoy the term "backup". If this lad is deemed inferior to Dwight McNeil he's just made the worst move of his career.

That vid I don’t hear him say back up at any point?

Is there a longer uncut version where he says that?

What I didn’t like was the opening sentence about him still being a young lad, developing still. Almost sounded like an excuse already that he’ll be a bench player.

….just like Armstrong, this lad will play if he earns his place.

I just don’t understand this veiled messages and predictions of him being on the bench, except they fit a narrative. It’s an absolute nonsense to think he’s been brought in to be given anything but an opportunity to prove himself.

Thats how it is, that’s how it should be.

Quite.

It's been a few hours since I watched the video but I took the comment to mean "backup" to Grealish. McNeil was out the door until he wasn't.
I think Moyes buys Grealish in the summer & him & George are our left sided main options if it works out. Ndiaye & Dibling on the right side options with McNeil sold in the summer.
As for the rest of this season, well that's down to George to win his place probably on the left. It is useful that both him & Ndiaye could switch sides at any point to mix up a game or cover injuries. Can't see him being a 9 in a Moyes team anytime soon.

He's young, he has won trophies, he has qualities we don't have, he can play in different positions.

Unless people have been watching a different clip to me, I really can't see how people can pick a negative out of what he said 🤷‍♂️

The press conference he said George is a good backup and cover for the 2 wide positions and at a push he could play up front too
