Okay fine this was basically the only scenario in which I was fine with McNeil over DiblingHaha good point, maybe McNeil scored a goal in training so we shouldn't bother developing our 40m 19 year old winger

bamboozled by Moyes againThe problem Dibling has currently is that it's better for a player like him to get 45 minutes of a game rather than 5 minutes. It won't do a lot for his development to get those bit part minutes. I think we will start to see more of him when Ndiaye goes to AFCON and we will perhaps have a Barry/Beto rotation for a while with him and whoever else plays on the right where they have a half each until he gets up to fitness and can play the majority of the game until Ndiaye gets back.
Let him prove his worth to the team.Still baffles me we paid what we paid for this lad.
I think there's some truth to this. He's not a guy you're looking to see out the last 10 minutes of a game. For that, you're looking more for tried and true veterans, especially if you have the lead. The problem Dibling has currently is that it's better for a player like him to get 45 minutes of a game rather than 5 minutes. Was thinking last night that that team is 2 first team players away from being really competitive. The midfield we had on the pitch at the start is fantastic, Pickford is great and the centre backs are good enough. The issues are basically our full backs and our striker. Really strange that, in particular, we didn’t try and get a better full back in£35m that should've been poured directly into the starting XI this season. It could be the difference in us finishing 11th or sneaking a european place.
We started a 37 year old right back last night that again had to limp off after 10 minutes.
I'm hoping it's just keeping him out the way and letting him settle. He's obviously a talented player but Southampton to Everton is a big move for someone so young. He's not swimming in a small pond now so will need to adapt a bit.….i’ve mentioned this before but it seems a while since I’ve seen the club releasing pics or training clips of Dibling via their social media outlets, especially given he was a ‘big signing’.
Might be nothing but maybe relates to them limiting his profile and letting him settle. Something to keep an eye on.
We were defending a 1 goal lead with 10 men. I wouldn't read that much into Moyes opting for the more experienced player in that scenario.…..it’s not complicated, Moyes will select the most effective cover he has for Ndiaye and at the moment it’s looking like McNeil will be the one.
We’d all like it to be Dibling but you can’t make it something it isn’t. McNeil is fine if he returns to the form he was in at times in the last 18 months or so.
