2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Perhaps our original interest in Dibliing was when we thought we couldn't get Grealish. Up to the start of this season N'Diaye was largey used on our left. Having secured Grealish for the season, the soton suits (unrelated) loosened up a bit on Diblings value. We bought him with an eye to the future. That future may come in December owing to AFCON, or when the season ends and we can't afford Grealish permo. We all want to give players like him and Barry time but listening to Moyes' presser its clear the one thing managers don't have is time.

I think people need to chill a bit. He’s in a position that our two best outfield players play in. Hes going to get chances. We didn’t buy him for one season.

I think alot of the expectation is because of the price. But I think people’s view of 35m is a little anchored to the past and how big numbers are a little difficult to quantify, especially given how quickly transfer fee inflation has moved.

To put it into context, Lukaku was 28m 11 years ago. He’d be around 120m in today’s prices. Dibling cost a third of that. It’s disgusting in the grand scheme of things but 30m really is the new 10m.

Give him time and I reckon he’ll more than justify the fee.

By Moyes or the fan base?

Actually, think it’s yes to both.
Our fan base are mad though, written off a young lad with a couple of sub appearances and yet will back two poor forwards with many more mins.
Our fans always dislike English players, and especially young ones. The only positive in his favour was that he didn’t come through here, he’d have got much worse stick then.

I think it’s less the fans have written him off so much as there’s widespread (not unanimous) disappointment that we spent so much on a player who seemingly can’t contribute to our immediate issues.
It would be a bit mad to write him off when we’ve not seen anything of him, but the situation does raise the question whether he should have been bought in the first place. Paying £37m or whatever him to sit on the bench at 19 after playing 30 games last season doesn’t seem particularly beneficial for either party 🤷‍♂️

126 pages on a fella who has played 150 mins of ball for Everton this season. Not even 2 matches.
He would have been better off playing 150 mins over 2 games, than 5/10mins here and there.

The little minutes shouldn't really equate to gametime, it takes that to try and get your head/pace into an already flowing game.

….he started two games (I think) against Wolves and Palace and got hooked in them both (the Palace game at half-time). He’s a professional, he should be sitting on the bench desperate to come on against tiring defenders.

Posters keep making excuses for him but ultimately it’s down to him.

Wolves can be disregarded as the whole amount of changes was a catastrophe. I'm not making excuses for the lad, but players need a bit of hope before they started doubting themselves and confidence drains, especially in young lads.

So 5/10 mins isn't good for anybody confidence.

Look at Mcneil, experienced premiership player who strolls on like a kid who's just had his lollypop stolen.

What does that do for the rest of the bench.

….must be watching a different game to me, McNeil has been dreadful but I wouldn’t say he’s not trying, indeed plenty on here suggest he’s trying too hard.

So, we have Dibling needs 20 minutes at the end of every game and now a suggestion that coming on as a substitute is too difficult for him because he’s too cold.

The lad just needs to make an impression when he gets the chance, none of us know what’s going on with him so leave it to the people who do know. It’s up to Dibling.
