2025/26 Tyler Dibling

I think at the moment Dibbling is not going to play much, we have NDaiye as the starter in that position and Moyes brought on McNeil to replace NDaiye against Sunderland. So right now Dibbling is 3rd choice in his position. Some fans won’t agree with that, but Moyes sees these people everyday and mentioned after the game against Sunderland that McNeil looks really good in training and that’s where he’s getting the chance.
It’s up to Dibbling to show he is better than McNeil in training and work his way back in.

Why should Dibbling be the replacement for N’Daiye? He’s not a RW, he only played there at SFC to get some experience ala DCL ans Seamus. He is a No 10 type player and should be getting ten minutes at the end of games to support Beto/Barry. That way he won’t alter the defensive set up too much (which is Moyes worry).

I think Moyes thinks KDH provides defensive capabilities in there. He is not used as a traditional 10 (if there is such a thing)

Dibbling has not played as a number 10 for us and even if he was a number 10, he would be behind Dewsbury Hall and Alcaraz for that position, so still 3rd choice.

I honestly dont see the difficulty people have with Dibling not playing if I'm honest, Ndiaye and Grealish are the bar, if hes beyond that bar or the other two drop below it - he's in. If not,, he's not.

Its a good problem to have, this is exactly where we want to be.

Last year the bar was Jack Harrison.

I think its the fact that its a fair old amount of money for us to be leaving on the bench week in week out when we clearly needed other areas of the team strengthening such as full backs.

In hindsight mate, but if you asked anyone on 1st of Aug where was the priority position they would have said right wing.
Oh I agree but the initial targets we had seem to all want Euroball or didn't want to come here. Then we went all guns blazing for Grealish which meant Ndiaye was switching to RW and any new RW would start from the bench. Not sure its been the best way to do it but hopefully Tyler gets a chance when the AFCON is on and comes good and shows what he can do.

…..I reckon folk understand why he doesn’t start, the issue is whether he’s going to be an adequate replacement for Ndiaye in January. It’ll be ideal if he is, only time will tell.

Personally think, we had top targets, when we couldn't get them we went for youth who will develop, which is Tyler and one of two others. Know for a fact we went for Paulinha as choice 1 and Soucek choice 2, for the Rohl slot as another example. We were turned down a fair bit last summer tbh - so opted for youth.

Its Grealsih i really reflect on, was he really needed and has it been that good a signing - im not convinced personally. But look Moyes wanted experience.

Either way i think the bar is now Greaslih and Illy as a standard, so if Tyler wants a slot he needs to be or get up to that level, i think he even has a job to take McNeill out of the equation in terms of experience in Dec.

Overall its a good problem to have, we need to invest and get used to having a squad. Having the luxury of being able to blood young players in and out and let them grow is something we haven't had in years - the time may come when Jack goes back City, Illy goes back to the left and we have Tyler a year longer in the tooth acclimatised and comes straight in. All a good news story in my opinion.

We needed another winger for absolute certain, but was less important after we signed Grealish.

Jack is temporary though mate, i dont see the club investing in a fee for him and reaching on his wages,, in my opinion anyway - id actually query the value of what we have invested in him as it is right now.

If Tyler comes in, develops and acclimatises over the year, contributes at points, then at 20 next year he might be ready to take that right side and Illy goes back left, but he has to prove he get to the bar of Grealish and Illy as a standard - that's his job and thats the clubs plan as i see it.

I think Jack was just as much TFG as Moyes.

Jack was their statement signing, the Tom Brady to our club, but instead of being cringe, they brought in a local footballing idol.
