Could not

Could not agree with you more. Tim has actually shown way more promise than Armstrong because for 85 minutes against Bournemouth he was unreal. I've no idea why he can't produce that level more often but the talent is there. Armstrong does not have anything like that performance in his resume currently. Garner has also shown he can do a job.
Ehh…what?

He’s also shown a lot more warts.

Goes straight on the right wing as a starter for us. Issue is his home sick record, jacked in Chelsea very quickly to return back to Southampton few years back.
The narrative is not quite as simple as that. He was less homesick, it was more that he was an isolated kid. He wasn’t allowed to train with the other players whilst his transfer was being investigated. Can hardly blame the kid for wanting out of Chelsea in that situation. Be a lonely existence for anyone that.

To be fair zat that's a bad example at united, both Giggs and Andrei had absolutely frightening pace.

Fair point but Giggs was the dribbler and Kancho was the speedster.

Can go with Limpar and Kanchelskis if you like :)

Fofana, Dibling, Ndiaye is love all three here, but the linchpin for me is they are not creators they are they ones causing havoc or getting pushed through by that creative player. It's why Mcatee imo would be essential and if not him someone else doing a similar role Luiz etc.

Alcaraz is very good on the transition.

Sounds like you want a deeper anchor type who can pass the ball about...like Armstrong was for Derby.

Oh I think Mcatee can actually be that as he develops mate I see him as a bit of a regen of his great uncle as he matures. Armstrong I like but I'm super cautious as been bitten once too many times by the next great Everton academy player bug.

Barry, Rice, Carrick, there's been a lot of that type of player who matured into that role.

I wasn't even alive when he was playing and even I know this is bollocks

Mate I'm talking about a number 8 not an anchor deep lying playmaker. The best number 8s can do both.

As we both know.

But let's move on I know Mcatee and me is a trigger thing for you ;)

Joey he isn't, four games into last season everyone was screaming how great Tim was - most now already realise he's badly flawed.

We are looking at buying a 19yo singer with 30+ league games under his belt who suits clearly has some absolutely exceptional qualities that can't be taught.

Armstrong I've never yet watched and though he's done anything that made me think he could be truly special. Which means it's absolutely critical his development is handled well in order to maximise what right now is a young talent.

We operate ours always, Barkley was the best since Gascoigne, Roswell was a superstar in the making, Vaughan was gonna be our Owen. Leys not do the same with this lad and let him develop properly
Been injured long term though....
