Dibling technically is insanely good. By a country mile our most talented youngster since Bale and has the potential to go right to the very top. He tailed off a bit second half of last season but can't have been easy playing for us with how poor we were and especially for a kid in his first season of men's football.
Obviously no guarantee he'll realise that potential but he's worth the risk imo. £40m is a lot but football is mental these days and that's what you're paying for that level of potential, and if it works out you'll be selling him for more than double that a couple years down the line.
Those types of players are a rarity these days too in the robotic game we have now. Someone who raises the anticipation levels in the ground whenever he picks up the ball.
Think where you're at as a club would be a good move for him too as he needs somewhere he'll play regularly.
I know I'm biased but I actually think a full championship season would be the best thing for him to get him used to the physicality of the game similar to Grealish at Villa. Very early on last season teams started targeting him to try and kick him off the pitch and that's something he'll have to get used to.
But I know that's very unlikely and if he's moving on you'd be a perfect destination for him imo. Big club who've been rubbish for a while and therefore he can play a part.

Dibling 33 games, 2 goals, 1800 minutes.
On costs, Elliot likely would cost 10m more up front, and his wages would be considerably higher - likely double minimum.

Pace that's needed is the pace to beat a man and I CE you do he stays beat, Ndiaye has that, so does this kid, you don't need to be road runner fast and there's an obsession with some to have players who straight line speed are burners, honestly it's not needed. City don't currently hse a single player I'd describe as being as fast as say Delefeou or Demari Gray for example

Yeah zat was just saying pay silly sums, for what it's worth having watched rigg a lot, he's definitely behind this lad currently and whilst super talented still a year or two away from playing a lot in the league.
A bit like Mcatee who I'm obsessed with - proved at Sheffield united he can hack it at a crap team and not let his head drop, so did this lad , those are massively important traits when biting a younger player as it shows they have a strong character
Do we have the budget for 40m or whatever it will eventually cost on a young kid with potential? It's a big risk when we need players for now and a lot of them. I'd be worried if we were emptying the transfer kitty for him.

In theory you 'should' go for the English player because of home grown rules, sponsorship/marketing when they get into the England side and i think its great when we have England players.

Agreed. The one thing i dont think anyone has mentioned in this thread (which i did a few months ago) is his spacial awareness.
Ignoring everything else, when I watched him on tv and even on the odd youtube video he is adept at creating space for himself and positioning his body perfectly to be 'just' away from the defender.
Cant be easy either with teams knowing he would be the main threat and focusing on him.
2 years time he'll be a top top top player.

If TFG are doing what I think they may, we very well could have a set budget in terms of overall costs allowed to use, then a extra pot specifically tied in with spending on developmental players under 20-21. If that's the long term model then separating the amounts guarantees we focus on youth as it's ringfenced for that.
Well if he's on it the deal can't be happening.
