Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

Tbf I didn't say he was ignorant, I just said that comment was.

I don't know if he's ignorant or not, but I'm as entitled as anyone else on this forum to take to task someone who engineers every twist and turn in this transfer window to remorselessy attack the club's management from the perspective of 'it's dead easy this transfer stuff, why can't they just buy the players?'
Fair enough, I think it’s more the frustration at witnessing decades of false dawns. Wears the best of us down.

So we spent too much on them? This is the problem. People were saying the same thing when we bought Sigurdson, Bolaisse etc. Over paying for (average/rubbish) players matters.
I think the difference is if players like Dibling don't fully pan out, then you're at least positioned to recoup a decent chunk because he's still young. Maybe we wouldn't see 40 mil back, but 25-30mil after a couple of average years? Probably not to difficult.

With those you mention, they were never going to move again for any real money, even if they lived up to their price tags...Which clearly they did not.

Personally don’t think Moshiri spent any more money than we should have been spending.

The problem was we spent it on a load of crap that we couldn’t recoup a single penny on, it was absolutely unprecedented.
Plus you had

Moshiri - going for big names
Kenwright - going for rooney and others
Koeman - wanting dutch players
Walsh - getting potential

All 4 were working off different scripts.

Least now its one set recruitment team. Hopefully pulling in a single direction

Same process house buyers haggle over houce prices.

Par for the course.

The elephant in the room is how every transfer rumour gets reported and speculated upon in minute detail. None of this is at all new, you just didn't hear about every single stage of until the likes of Romano made spouting nonsense into a business.
