Last year Branthwaite was already one of the best young English centrebacks in the country, if not full stop. Bit different.

The Southampton fans and club probably think Tyler is one of the best young right wingers in the country.

United put a derisory bid last summer for Branthwaite and the United fans got all uppity with it and said they should walk away as we wanted too much money.

Branthwaite slots into any team in the league, improving the vast majority of them.

As much as I would like us to sign him Dibling doesn't fit that profile and plays for a relegated team. There is no chance he is turning out for Southampton next season. The same would have been true for our best players on our own relegation - including players that had no intention of leaving otherwise.

Can’t see him signing a new contract if it’s true he wants to move on. They are relying on another club panicking this year because this time next year he’ll have one year left.

I reckon they’ve pushed things too far, he’ll have a mediocre season in the championship as he’ll be put out and they’ll sell him for £25m next summer.
