If you like Ripper St, you’ll like this -
The Alienist ( Netflix)

Cross between Mind Hunter and Ripper St.

Set in 19th century New York, against a back drop of police corruption, a serial killer is murdering young male prostitutes. The police commissioner puts together a team of non corrupt of officials to catch the killer.

Doesn’t really get going until episode 6 of 10, when it all kicks into gear.

I binge watched this awhile back, agree with your comments, well worth the effort.
