I’d recommend it. Far more violent, far more rude in the comics. I won’t spoil anything because I suspect the actual storyline will possibly be the second/third season but a lot of key points in the series are different.
Stillwell, for example, isn’t a woman in the comics.

Ben Mackenzie plays Gordon, not Bruce Wayne. For what it's worth though I don't rate Ben Mackenzie. Was a big OC fan but he is a pretty rubbish actor.
On Gotham, I started it when it came out but really couldn't get on with it. It's weird with superhero TV shows as I basically can't get on with any of them. But I love superhero films.

I’ve really enjoyed every series of Gotham.

Just watched an episode of The Professionals and clocked a very young Clarke Peters (Freamon, The Wire) right at the start. And then later in the same episode up pops a young Charles Dance playing a South African?* mercenary/thug/hitman
