It’s fantastic, but you absolutely have to watch it continually, as even if you have a break of a couple of days from it, you have to go back to the episode before and refresh, due to it being that complex.

If French series are of interest, Lupin is excellent with the very charismatic Omar Sy - 4th iteration is forthcoming. Drôle is excellent as well, 2nd season was never green lit due to poor viewing figures but it is a diamond in the rough

Literally just found it and saved it to watch, going to do True Detective again after you mentioned it..

The complexity comes from the sub plots and timelines, as the cast remains pretty much the same all the way through.
