Series 4 of Stranger Things was some of the best telly I’ve ever seen.
The last episode with the battle against Vecna and the Eddie Munson guitar solo was off the scale.

Gave up on Stranger Things after season two. The third season was just too awful for me. My wife raved about the fourth season but I saw some of the finale and it was as bad as I remembered - horrible dialogue, ugly actors and a generic story.
Season one was great though. It should’ve ended there like they planned.
The main issue is it just rips off ideas from much better shows and films. It lacks any kind of artistic merit. You get a similar kid dynamic with more of a payoff with the old It miniseries, which was fantastic.

There’s very few movies or TV shows that aren’t derivative to some degree - everything influences everything else, but that was part of the appeal for me ST, it was unapologetically influenced by those eighties movies and being a child of the eighties this I what I loved and the soundtrack.
It definitely went on a season longer than it should have and there were clear filler episodes but that’s more the Netflix affect. The money men don’t like money making tv shows or movies to stop.

4 episodes into A Family At War, which i have recorded over the last year from Talking Pictures TV. I vaguely remember my mum watching it back in 1970 when it was first on. It’s regarded as a classic serial from the day.
It’s about a family living through WW2 set in Liverpool. Bizarrely there is only one of the family of 7 who has a scouse accent. There are no references to Liverpool apart from someone works on ‘the docks’. Reading the history of it, most of it was recorded in Manchester. Presumably Granada Studios. Might as well have set it in Mcr.
A young Bill Dean(Harry Cross from Brookside) has just put in an appearance.
Chamberlain has just declared war on Germany. 48 episodes to go!

I haven’t watched the last 3 episodes of Stranger Things yet but I think one of the big issues the show has is that what were surprisingly good child actors have pretty much all turned out to be mediocre at best as they have grown up. Might be being a bit kind calling them mediocre too.
It’s a strange one isn’t it, as they really all were brilliant as kids.
I think Johnathon, Nancy and Steve Harrington have maintained a level of consistency throughout the whole series, but they were already established actors before the series started, albeit relatively unknown.
Best character in the whole season is Holly. She’s a class little actress.
Just subbed to Netflix ........Missus has to go to Crete for more Chemo for 6 wks ............purely cautionary BTW. I'm going also but she is in to stuff like ........... Well .........shizz girly stuff but also great crime dramas/docs. She will not do subs though.I will be in a BB away from the Hozzy ...so any advice on shows for her would be ace xxxx
Shame that about the subs, as some of the really good stuff is with subs.
