TV Series

Not exactly the hottest new series around but I'm watching Fear The Walking Dead and coming towards the back end of season 4. They did a pretty good job of a soft reboot of the series, changing the central cast and keeping the focus pretty small and tight.

Definitely beats the bloated mess that The Walking Dead became with multiple settlements, dozens of uninteresting surplus characters and confusing sprawling plotlines trying to justify them all being there. I'm not convinced FTWD won't go the same way but I'm enjoying it for now.

Do you need to have watched the walking dead for this?
I never bothered to start with and won’t now as I heard it goes gash.

Me and the missus finished season one of 'From' last night. I'd never really heard about it up until about a week or so ago when my missus mentioned that someone had recommended it to her.

I like it. Has a really good concept that has enough mystery/intrigue about it to keep you interested. Some decent acting in it as well.
Been holding back on that one, Have I now got permission to give it a go then. Assuming it is a good series that is...
I noticed they got a 2nd series coming out this year..

And having just watched the final episode of Season 4 I will have to be particularly bored to go for Season 5. The whole zombie genre, much like the slasher genre, requires an understanding that it's all pretty stupid and to garner any enjoyment you have to give a lot of things a free pass.

But the Season 4 finale really does take that understanding way beyond the breaking point.

It's baffling how such bad writing gets anywhere further than a quickly dismissed half arsed idea in a writer's head. That it gets from idle thought and onto a page is quite something. But to get beyond that and over the innumerable hurdles required to actually make it into a studio and onto screen is beyond comprehension.
