And you’re upset that they cast a black guy to play an elf

The fantasy genre does not mean that I can fantasize in my head or directors can do this without relying on Tolkien's book.
There was a race of dark and gloomy elves in the book. I think it would be better to show a certain race of elves with dark skin. But this is just my judgment and opinion. Another minus is that they recruited undersized white guys, although in the book all the elves are tall.

A book written 100 years ago needs modernisation to reflect the world today in any remake.
Tv needs more be more reflective of society.

The mention of Black elves, hobbits and Jesus Christ in the TV Series thread seem to have weirdly stirred something in you about skin colour… sounds like you need to start a thread to get it off your chest.

Nope, my kids are mixed race and the Jesus comment was clearly flippant. I have no interest in anyone's skin colour, especially elves, and the only long since dead carpenter I have any interest in is Karen.
