TV Series

One off documentary on Channel Five - " My name is ..... and I'm an alcoholic ".

Just a group of people from all walks of life doing short individual interviews about when they realised they were alcoholics and the effects of it on their life.

The group included a real cross section of society.

Very moving and wonderfully put together.

Just watched an hour on Gold of the making of Black Adder, particularly Black Goes Forth. Despite knowing every word of every line, having seen the series about 20 times, it was impossible not to laugh my socks off yet again. All subjective of course, but that particular series might just have been as good as comedy ever got.

Peep Show Spoilers below

I really didn't like the ending to the last series. I know a lot of people liked the flat ending as it was keeping in theme with the rest of the show, but I really think the last season needed something to give some sort of satisfying conclusion to the series.

What I would have done would have been to give Jez cancer at the beginning of the series and have him die in the last episode, with Mark by his side. This sounds a bit heavy but I honestly think they could have got laughs from it. You could have then have things like Super Hans giving a wildly inappropriate eulogy at the funeral until Mark has to step in and rescue it somehow. You could even have Mark come to realise that he actually did like Jez and that he will miss him.

I'd then end it with Mark knocking on the door of the series love interest. She opens the door and the episode ends. It would then be up to the viewer to decide whether Mark makes the most of his new lease on life or if he ruins it as always. At least there would be cause for optimism and a feeling that meaningful change had happened during all the years we watched.
