your season ticket could come in many forms, companies use varies things such as little toggles that can be on a keyring or on something round your neck or even little tags that go on a watch strap.
you often see the little grey (usually) toggles on peoples car keys, i reckon they could have produced some little towers. i could probably copy my season ticket very easily, the equipment is quite cheap tbh as well. installers of these systems can have the software and card/toggle reader/writer for about £60, the toggles are cheap as chips and again you do it all by proximity when reading/writing. i might do my s.t. and see if it works on a toggle.

right who wants a little tower for a s.t. ?

Yeah, the 1st time they were introduced a few people were confused, even though there was signs explaining how to do it & the stewards were there to tell people who still couldn't work it out. It might have confused you the 1st time but it probably took about 5 more seconds of your life & now you know how to do it next time so problem solved

What happened to climbing over the wall to get in the ground, all this technology does is break, someone give me a leg up.

I'm assuming it's similar to the gates at train/tube stations. If you have an Oyster card you swipe it, if you have a ticket you insert it, and of course if you're a scally you jump the gates.
