The fact that we are in a mess now shouldn't be any reason to re-write history. Martinez had an amazing first season and things went downhill from there. It was hee haw to do with available money for players, and everything to do with the fact that he wasn't pragmatic enough to realise that we couldn't be Barca-lite every week.

I'd rather not wish either situation on any of us.

Whilst we were dire at the back under Martinez, at least we had a system, tactics, and had a go (apart from when the players eventually downed tools, seems to be a common thread with our players, downing tools) we're just all over the gaff this season.
