Booking.com have a new AI itinerary planner. Worth a look if going somewhere you are not familiar with. Will try to sell you places to stay at the end but the info generated is really useful.

We went in September and it was glorious still was still in the sea at 6pm, did g want to get out.

An e-sim is good. If you're doing a lot of inter-city travel get yourself a JR rail pass. Where are you going?

Tokyo then Osaka.

Is it necessary to have cash?

A decent amount would be handy but most will take a card. Going to Osaka tomorrow night for some food then Tokyo via the Japanese alps on I think the 19th. For our final 5 days. Get yourself some sort of portable cooling device mate, the heat and the humidity are a killer. Meant to be 70 percent in Kyoto tomorrow. Fantastic place though. Hope you have a great time.

I’d recommend getting a Suica card. You can load money on it and use it for subways, trains, convenience stores, etc. This was recommended to me by my Japanese colleagues and it was very helpful
