I also remember a pub on the river that was serving three kinds (pork, lamb and smoked ham) of knuckle (on one plate). If my memory is still working I think they also had a chocolate museum on the riverfront. The town history museum was also pretty good and there is a good view over the old town from the tower on the other side of the river.
That might have been the place I had the pork knuckle. IIRC knuckle was the only type of food they served. Yes there is a chocolate museum, I remember going to that.

Never made it to Dresden but really enjoyed Leipzig (church where Bach played—St. Matthew’s and the STASI museum).

Prague is fantastic..jealous over here as I sweat my nuts off in DC
I've been to Prague before, it is truly tremendous. Went outside of the peak tourist months which I suspect made a huge difference in my enjoyment levels 😆

The irony huh, a tourist moaning about tourists.

Have a cruise booked for October with a stop in Naples. I want to go to Pompei. Has anyone been before? Thinking of doing the public transport and self guided tour option.
Did it self guided a few years ago, pretty sure I did it in October too. It's a truly fascinating place, and the brochures and plaques are more than enough to understand what each section is without paying for a guide.
Would definitely recommend doing it, you won't see anything similar anywhere else
