Player Valuation: £8m
Outs
Jacobsen - (RB) 30yo - Blackburn
Valente - (LB) 34yo - Released
Castillo - (CM) 26yo - Returned after loan
VDM - (WM) 29yo - Released (back into the wild)
Ins
Jo - (St) 22yo - Loan from City, season long. Cup obligations?
Peterlin - (DM) 22yo - Signed, full time.
Naughton - (RB) 20yo - Signed (nearly), expect 4 or 5 year contract with buyout clause.
Mustafi - (CB) 16yo(?) - Signed to youth from Hamburg.
Garbutt - (LB) 16yo - Signed to youth from Leeds.

So far, so good. Considering it is at the time of writing that time where my watch is halfway between 10 and 11 indicating the day of July. So 10 days into the transfer window, appear to have 3 senior players added so far. Good work David Moyes and his much maligned boss.

Agreed.

He's getting the average age of the squad a bit younger while keeping the core of the team in tact.

A season long loan should mean he won't be prevented from playing in the cup, but can he play against Citeh? Remember Howard couldn't play against Manure!

Agree, pleasing bits of business so far, as long as no Naughton hitches!

We just need that one quality MF - Defour would do for me, and that would be a pleasing end to transfer business - well before midnight on 31st August for a change!

Just posted this in the Delph rumour thread, but what they hey, I'll post it here.

The fact that Moyes is looking towards the youth players, to me, its extremely reassuring. It seems like he is willing to put a shift in here. He come out with a statement recently saying that he wants to bring in young talent, so far so good Davey! (y)

I would absolutely love him to be like Wenger or `Ferguson and stay here for ages. He is on the cusp of making us something special. A few more quality signings along the lines of Jo and Naughton (ok he hasnt signed yet, but you get the gist of it!) and I think we are seriously in contention for bigger and brighter things.

I've been looking round some other forums, and judging off the knee jerk reactions some posters spout, it seems that some people seem to be forgetting that we played a large part of the season without 2 of our most prolific players in Arteta and Yakubu. I would add Jags to that list, but his injury came later on in the season. The loss was still felt though!!!!

Anyway, I think that we may still bring in one big name signing. Well. I'm hopeful more than anything. With that, I think we could cause some damage!

I was starting to get frustrated early in the window but now I'm satisfied with the signing Moyes has made. What we need is at least one big name, and 1 more player that come join and be already on the senior roster. Defour or Mountinho :)

Agreed that it is great that we are signing young talent.

However, I don't know if any of these players (Jo apart) will kick a ball in the PL this season, and I do think that we need a couple of players who can go straight into the first team and strengthen us. If we manage to get Defour that would be just the ticket.

Very clever in my opinion. Buffing up the youth/reserves with more quality as well as sticking by the regular transfer policy of not spending too much and bringing in good players for the first team. I'd like to see us BUY a really good player though, winger preferably, then I think, because of our seemingly poor financial situation, call it time on the transfers.

But anything Moyes does I would go with, to get us where we are over the past 7 years takes more than just gambles, he gets it right 9/10.
