Tough November/December

I suspect this run of fixtures will make us come crashing back down to earth. We've had some really easy (by comparison) fixtures this year and thrown away points left, right and centre. Dropping 2 points to absolutely turd teams like QPR, Wigan and Liverpool and then losing to Reading; these results really were glossed over as -- thanks to other teams around us dropping points -- our league position remained healthy.

But as I said this early on in the season your league position matters little. It's your points that count. And there's a massive clusterf*ck of teams around us with similar points, and a lot of them have already had to play Chelsea, City, Arsenal and so on. I think we'll take points off the tough teams but I can't foresee too many wins, and despite the media fapping over us, we've had one win since September.

exactly this. I think we've had a poor start and had easy fixtures compared to Liverpool.
Generally think we'' be bottom half soon. Mirallas + Gibson too injury prone, defence is awful and Pienaar + Jelavic have gone ****.
Sucks atm tbh

I think we really need to drop this emphasis on Champions League, it will do us as supporters no good because it's highly unlikely to happen, sort of like if Norwich fans were saying 'there goes our chance of Europa'. It never was and still isn't a realistic goal for our squad. Not saying we can't achieve it though.

I'm going to be interested to see how we play this weekend without Fellaini, because if we don't make 4th we've lost him at the end of the season. If life goes on without him then finishing 5th is acceptable because we can aim higher next season with the money from selling him, but if we look pants, we're going to take another 2-3 years to get back into this position I think.

C'mon Walter White and Kid with blood on head..... you're both contradicting yourselves. Stop getting all Gus Fring on us. Why don't we hold off on the bold predictions until mid-January and then we'll see where things are at, eh.

What am I contradicting myself about? Didn't make any bold predictions, I put forward a couple of possible outcomes. Confused.

champions league shouldnt even be mentioned. Its embarrassing to think this squad we have are anywhere near good enough, and quite frankly insulting to our wonderful teams in the 60s, 80s who where actually pretty damn good

Don't think Fellaini is going to stay 100% with a 4th place CL finish and I don't think he'll necessarily leave if it's a 5th place finish. Plus, the money gained from his sale -- given a 5th place finish -- according to your scenario would surely save us from 2-3 years recovery time.

I dunno, I really think he's off if we don't get Champions League footy, it's what he craves for, and there will be plenty of offers. We could lose other players too. Plus the money we get from Fellaini, I think 20% of that goes back to Liege as part of the contract, and Bill will put some into "other operational expenses", plus trying to find a new player to build our game around. It's taken us 3 years to get back to where we were when we got to the FA Cup final etc.

I suspect that the team actually need some of these types of fixtures to be able to raise their game. It wouldn't surprise me if we did well in most of the tougher looking fixtures and dropped points to West Ham and Stoke.

Gibson back will be a massive boost for us. Fellaini as a 2nd striker only works well if Gibson is sitting in midfield.
How many teams are on to Gibson making our team tick tho?
Pienaar needs to grow his hair back too.
