Tottenham Hotspur

Walker was despised by the players and treated the fans like crap - stories abound about pre-season friendlies.

I do recall stood in Gwladys Street as they walloped us 5-1 though. So wasn't disappointed when he became our manager. Mind you that day we had 4 full-backs across the defence.
Makes a change

I think it's.mad how close we've come. We've been bottom 3 on the final day, or needing 2 wins from the last 3 or 4 games. And we've always stayed up and we've always had such a strong belief until the final point that saw us safe.
We've had utter crap players score amazing goals, we've had comeback games, cheating games, lucky games, guy bikelocked to goalpost games. Somehow, we've done it every time.

Tottenham have one bad year when they nearly went down, then they just go. Just like that. Theyre out of the league unless they win 3 of 6 games. I can't believe it.
The difference is that while on paper they have a better squad than we’ve had at any of those times, our fans and our players dug in and never gave up.

Spurs played and fans have looked beaten for weeks.

That’s the difference.

Their fans were leaving when they were trailing Palace at home as though they weren’t in a relegation battle. No one left Goodison when we were 2 down to Palace in a much more precarious position. There’s no 3-2 comeback if the players had seen whole sections of the crowd leaving when the second Palace goal went in.
