You can't really judge Mirallas' ability as a striker from one start. If that were the case Naismith would never have played after his first season.

I said before we played him there, that it would be a mistake because his game relies on running at people and having space in front of him and you don't get that as a lone striker receiving the ball with you back to goal.

The 60 mins vs Villa just cemented my feelings on this one.

Naismith should start.

Got me there mate. I'll put 1-0 chico down in my notebook.

What happens if he shouted "goaly in and out" b-boom? He could then surely run out and slalom past their wide players before hitting de bottom corner? If he done this and produced three or four saves from Tottenham shots resulting in us winning one nil then he could have won it whilst being goalkeeper yeah? Yah?

And Naismith is never a lone striker either, he's best with a partner or behind somebody behind Jelavic.

Neither are suited to that position, but Mirallas offers more and i'd sooner see him and McGeady in the team than sacrificing one for Naismith to start.

Exactly. We learned 2 things from the Villa game last week:

1) Mirallas is not a striker (but is a superb support)
2) Naismith is a striker (but only a striker)

First of all it's ridiculous that a team challenging for the top 4 is without a striker to choose from going into one of the most important games of the season.

Whether it's Naismith or Mirallas they're going to need lots of support from those around them. The onus really is on the three playing in behind the striker to show some ambition and get into the box

Yeah thought about him, but can see him missing sitters constantly

Least he'd be out of defence so would cost us fewer goals.

We could have Dustbin up top and the midfielders around him could 'clean up' any second balls.

I actually suggested Leighton up front during our last striker injury crisis. In my head he did really well, was similar to Messi.
