Fer
Honda
Lukaku (loan)

But then we need another striker, a winger and a centre back... at least.

Can't argue with that. You are looking at 6-10m for Fer and 18-20m for Lukaku though right?

What about.

1. Fer
2. Younes Belhanda (plays right mid, is dying to come to the Prem and would give you the option of Kev up front.)
3. Micah Richards (still young at 24, would really challenge for places at center half and right back.)

If Felli stays I would prefer to drop him deeper and get a creative player in front of him, for me that would be Banega but someone like Honda could do that job as well.

thats a way to look at it, yeah.

We really need a creative force in the middle

would we need Fer or Honda if Felli stays?

Of course, it's not just about Fellaini, Gibson and Osman were dead on their feet towards the end of the season. So we need quality to fill in or preferably play more minutes, Gibbo is having surgery as well so may not be 100% come the start of the season.

If we play a 4-2-3-1 then Honda would be perfect for playing in the 'hole' as it were. Barkley over Osman would be my preferred choice for in the middle if Mirallas was on the wing, I think Barkley is more likely to do something spontaneous especially when it comes to shooting from outside the area, something which Osman struggles with. Fer along side Fellaini in the 2 who'd drop more. If we played 4-3-3 and those 3 played in the middle they are all perfectly dynamic especially Fer and Fellaini to either hold or push up more.

He's had an excellent season as well, see that creative mid we're missing, that's him.

Southampton linked this morning with an 8m bid.

SOUTHAMPTON FFS

What? WHERE?!?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Didn't Benega drive over himself last season and get his cock out over Skype? Lads a bit Drenthe, sign him up FFS.

Yeah if we're going to stick with a 4-5-1. Then of our current players we have three strikers (jelavic, vic, vellios), three number 10s (Naismith, Osman, Barkley), 4 wingers (Kev, Pienaar, Oviedo, Gueye) and two central midfielders (felli and gibson).

That's literally no cover at all if one of gibson or felli are unavailable.

Mirallas

Fer Fellaini

Jelavic
Mirallas Fellaini Belhanda
Gibson Fer

Victor
Pienaar Fellaini Mirallas
Osman Gibson

Gives you sweet options for the front five depending on injuries and form.

agree. we may well have 20 mill worth of talent waiting to show it. wouldn't bring anyone into that position till we know we need it and I suspect we dont

I don't disagree that he definitely should be given a lot more playing time, I just don't think he should be relied upon because he just won't last a full season. He'll obviously add something and I think he'll do a lot of great things if he gets the chance this season but he won't be able to play 12, 13, 15 or what ever games on the run playing 60-75 minutes.

This is the issue, the 'system' worked extremely well (at times) during last season. We had problems scoring goals because of obvious reasons but we played great football in quite a few matches, created stupid amounts of chances but late in the season players were just exhausted. Blame can be attributed to Moyes for that but we just didn't have the quality off the bench or the numbers. I don't see Naismith, Vellios or Gueye as being a quality option who can change things or offer something that'll give us an edge when we need it, be it us behind, drawing or the killer instinct to finish off an opponent.

can ross hack it? Is he ready to run the show?

the doubts seem to be about his consistency but its not been tested. really hard for a player to come on feeling like they have to do something special to win the manager round every time they are off the bench. can we afford not to find out if we have an absolute gem who just needs someone to give him conviction. and to be honest its good opportunity to find out when we have the nucleus of a side where he doesn't need to run the show every time.
