Too much dead wood...

He had injuries last season and was only really coming back into the team towards the end of the season.
England never, ever take such players to major tournaments.

Aye, Jack Wilshere will back you up on that... not :coffee:

McAlney lost the ball a couple of times against Krasnodar and that was it for him for a lot of people

I feel the time probably has come for him to go because it's obvious that no matter what he does he's never going to get a chance here at Everton

He should put in a transfer request and build his reputation back up. He might still find his way to a Premiership team in the future

Sitting on a bench right now is not what he needs

I still think he can make it, but what he needs is regular minutes and he won't get those here

He will give the ball away now and then as that's how he plays. He likes to run at defenders and that leaves him liable to losing the ball on occasion

His age is misleading as he missed a huge chunk of time with a very serious injury and it took him a while to get healthy again. I'll certainly back him while he's still an Everton player and if we loan him I'll keep a look out for how he does. If we sell him, I wish him all the best and hope he proves the doubters wrong about him

I think most people don't rate him because he has failed to break into the first team since signing his first professional contract in 1976.
