Sad. Nice guy and all that and respect to his family. But not an Everton legend and we have a dead thread for paying respects. Just saying.
Possibly because certain players transcend the colour kit they wore? He was a great player from a period where both EfC and LFC were competing he remained respectful towards Us? Deserves a little respect back in my opinion.

Or as an American from another age once put it:

For in the final analysis, our most basic common link, is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's futures, and we are all mortal.

Sorry bud, I have re-read my original post and I promise I wasn’t being as ‘up myself’ as it read. I am pretty sure some of the RS forums would have carried similar threads when Ball and Kendall passed away :)
None taken mate. My post was about it being in the Everton forum which was a bit pedantic given the thread subject. I regret posting it but hopefully you can tell from the wording there was no disrespect meant.

RIP The Flying Pig indeed. A scholar and a gentleman as is said.

As time marches on, our guys, their guys, everybody including me n thee fall off the perch, some won't be missed (as footballing opponents)
But some will.

The 60's were pre rs and I was one of those that went, sometimes, to 1 one week and 1 the other...not every week I hasten to add, but if the game was a big one and looked interesting you'd go with your red mates.

Oh we hate bill shankly and we hate st john, but most of all we hate big ron.
Apart from the obvious, why?

Because we, well me, we recognised that despite the red shirt they were very, very, good at what they did.

I go through that team in my head and apart from smith who was later one of the first to embrace the rs dark side like a goodun
Yes blue specs off; even the saint gets a pass - just - when he wasn't playing us.

I know it will upset some but just suppose st john only ever wore a blue shirt, he'd be up there as a player with Young and
Ball...If you can't or won't see a decent player on the other side just because he's on the other side, well that says more about you than...well just sayin like.

So, Smith apart, going through that early 60s team I can't find anybody I couldn't grudgingly like as a player
and some of them as people too.
You couldnt say a bad work against the flyjng pig, he was just what it said on the tin...before what it says below became true.
As I said before - not a bad bloke for a wool.
Brilliant post mate and a great point to raise. Respect the player even if you don’t support the jersey.
