Transfer Rumour Tomas Soucek

If he only brings goals from midfield, it is concerning that he has had 2 seasons under Moyes when he got less than 5 goals. Hardly screams prolific. I’m concerned (if this is true), that Moyes is thinking of himself rather than the club with this signing. A player with no long term value, on big wages, to satiate Moyes’ need for experience. It also limits some of the younger players’ opportunities, and directs funds away from more pressing areas of the team.

Realistically, he suits Moyes style of play.
He is a defensive midfielder in the classic sense, his main ability is to sit in front of the CB’s and give them protection.
He works hard , is superlative in the air .Good at blocks and tackles , gives away a fair few fouls , but to be expected given his role and skill set .
His secondary role is to give support in the box , he usually arrives as the initial attack runs out of steam and has a knack of scoring goals. His height and ability in the air also make him dangerous on corners and free kicks.
But he is not creative , his passing and control are poor , which is probably why he favours a hoof ball. He is not the fastest either.
A hard working defensive player with a bonus of goal scoring ability.
For his age/ price / wages I think we could do better .

Not the DM we need and is quite slow, also at his age that is dead money. On the flip side he does notch goals and is a unit.

He’s not good at tackles. He’s not a ball winner at all. Most of what he’s good at revolves around him being 6’4.

My only memory of him is about one or two years ago when he was in an American rollercoaster yelling and rolling eyes like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall . Nothing about football.
Is he really needed?
