Simple fact is, Davies plays because he's picked. We should have better players who would keep him out of the team but we don't. At least, our manager won't play them.

Unfortunately, success usually comes at the expense of blooding youngsters. Look at minutes given to kids in the league and I'd be confident the top 6 are nowhere in sight.

Considering the transfer price paid and the probable salary package he's on, so he damn well should be compared to a 19-year old.

Absolutely - it's almost a relief that he is, otherwise we'd never be able to sell him at the end of the season as he is clearly only playing again for the summer window.

Davies is never a defensive midfielder more a box to box with pace , but we have plenty of that atm =NOT!

Shouldn't a box to box player link defence and attack, dominate the middle, shoot at the goal, score some goals?

Not sure Davies does any of that, or has the scope to.

*shrug* the problem with Schneiderlin is not ability - we've seen him at his peak, superb - it's application. He can't be arsed, which is even worse.

I would honestly sell Schneiderlin, Davies and Gueye this summer and start again in the middle.

And yet keep Rooney :hayee:

snides just sits in front of the back four okish yesterday expect more from him at his fee and wages!
Our forwards struggle to score never mind our one man midfield yesterday it was Guye most times its poor Tom!

Schneiderlin - on form like last two games - is on a totally different level to Davies. Vastly superior.

I have been one of Schneiderlin’s fiercest critics this season, I am still unsure about his character and does he have the desire that he showed at Southampton and in his early Everton games. But, what I can’t deny is that he has the tools to be a better all round midfielder than what we’ve seen in a Blue shirt. He has played well, both in the Derby and again yesterday. With his ability he should offer more to the team, that’s been my main criticism of him. May be putting himself in the shop window for another huge signing on fee...but can’t see many suitors paying what we do.

Ask me a few weeks ago and I wanted him out of the club, I’m a fan and call it it as I see it. Still want to see him look for the ball more after we’ve won it back, he has a range of passing that’s better than the easy square ball we see too often. Jury is still out on after eighteen months, which is more to do with what we know he can do above what we’ve seen on a consistent basis. Of course he is better than Davies when at his best, we haven’t seen it enough, so get the calls for Davies ahead of him because the lad with the head of a Pot Noodle offers energy and always looks for the ball.

He’s a player alright is Tom, still has a lot to learn and over time he will become a greater influence on games. Just let him develop, he should be in and around the first team, shown that he’s good enough. At times we are all too impatient as results have been so poor, but to build and have an identity, it’s players like Davies, Kenny, Beni, Feeney who can go on and be a part of a better Everton in future seasons.
